Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
ive seen the new "bodystyle" for the evox and although according to edmunds.com the suspension is out of this world i would not want an X for one simple reason... it kind of resembles a neon... i mean the whole sexyness of the evo is that its a family car that can keep up with a porch and out turn anything... and once you lose the look it just turns into the same old sports car with an amazing suspension... its the first time ive been let down by mitsu :-\
Mitsubishi Evo X hp and weight requirements
It seems that future automobiles are coming out with higher horsepower, some with more weight, some with less. The current Evo's are competitive, or better, with the automobiles that are out now. In your opinion, what horsepower and weight, must Mitsubishi give the Evo X to keep pace with its current position in the car world?
320+, the X looks like its going to be pretty heavy. If their going to be asking over 40k, Im thinking like 350, unless they pull an eclipse move
But, I think they know what they are doing, and the competition that they are going to be after means they will probably do it right. I dont think it will be the same evo as before, but I think it will still be a great car.

I'm thinking given the amount of 400 and 500 hp cars on the road right now 350hp is going to be the minimum to be taken seriously. Especially when you factor in that it is a turbo car and doesn't really start making power until 3500 rpm and up. I wouldn't mind seeing them throw a little more displacement in the mix.
Weight wise, I don't think it can be too much heavier than it currently is. Another 200lbs. tops.

I dont know, I saw it at MOD, and it is a big car, Sharing the same platform as the dodge caliber. Looks nice, but Im pretty sure it will have leather, nav, more sound deadening (like the 07 sti) But I could be wrong.
Mitsu has said in every interview published that the X would weigh less than the IX. With that said, it'd be a major faux if it had any less hp than the Dodge Caliber SRT-4. I would think their goal lies in using technology to make the car faster without a substantial increase in hp and/or tuning via the DSG, Super AYC, direct injection, etc...instead of tuning the car to the ragged edge. A comfortable 300hp in a car that's several seconds faster around the same road course than an IX.
It'll be interesting to see who's first to incorporate the SRT-4's 2.4L block into an X assuming they're identical externally.

With the aluminum head and block rumoured to be in the X and with the aluminum panels on the outside of the car I think it's quite easy for Mitsu to lower the weight. I'm sure a lightweight RS model will be in the offering as well.

1 - Performance
2 - Price
3 - ........ There is no 3....
So basically for me, if mitsu came out with a car kinda resembled a ***** and only came in pink but cost $30k and could smoke an Enzo around a track I would be first in line.

Evolution III
January 1995 saw the arrival of the Evo 3- and this time the 5000 strong production run was brought up more quickly than the Evo 2. The Evo 3 looked more serious, with its new nose moulding (to channel air better to the radiator, intercooler, and brakes). New side skirts and rear corners, while the rear wing had grown again to reduce lift. Under the vented aluminium bonnet a new TDO5-16G6-7 Turbo, new exhaust system and increased compression brought another 10ps power rise, Torque output was unaltered, apart from a higher final drive ratio. Both GSR and RS still used the same 5speed gearbox. Interior tweaks were limited to a new Momo steering wheel (GSR only) and new fabric on the Evo 2 type Recaros. The specs on this vehicle were an engine size of 1997 cc, 270 bhp@6250 rpm, Torque was 228 lb ft at 3000 rpm. weight is 1260 kg (rs 1190 kg) A top speed of 149 mph and 0-60 in 4.9secs. This model still uses the same frame. (CE9A)
so uhm yeah... i was driving my imagination and sold my imagination as well... seriously though... please dont open your mouth before your sure whats coming out of it is worth more than what you breathed into it seconds before
