Thank you for clearing that up.

according to LeftLane News (they have been pretty reliable on news thusfar), the Evo X will debut somewhere around late spring 2007...in the US first, NOT JAPAN!

Interesting. Doesn't follow what we've all been hearing though.

Only time will tell, a lot can change between now and then.

I find that very hard to believe but anything is possible. I think Mitsu is pretty set on the powertrain aspect of the X but the body/interior looks a long ways from production.
They would have to show an updated version of the car in January without a doubt unless they are purposly keeping things under wraps only to drop a bomb that the car is in fact ready to go
Spring 2007 would be great however as that would be the ideal time for me to buy . Now lets hope Canada gets it at the same time as the US.

Mike

Man, I hope that they're right. If so, I'll be getting one in the Spring. The desire to go turbo and AWD is so hard to resist, especially when I can go out and buy an IX.

I think Leftlane news probably mis-translated that story from Nihon Keizai Shimbun

Edmunds covers the same story from Nihon Keizai Shimbun and reports that the Mistubishi Lancer will be released in the US first, making no mention of when or where the Lancer Evolution will first appear...

I wonder why? Is it because it's being built on the Dodge Caliber chassis? Just think … if this sort of collaboration happened a few years earlier we'd be driving around tight-*** AWD SRT-4s!

I think it's more that they want to build a strong market presence with the new Lancer and having the evo come six months after the regular one is a one-two punch for mitsu's image. Mitsu REALLY needs to make money off of the Lancer and new Outlander otherwise, having a USDM evo XI would be highly unlikely.

i'm thinking needs this to revive some sagging sales on our side of the ocean. they had a horrible time last year in their home market due to not disclosing some recall information (it was on the news all the time), and then the Japanese government bank hit them with a crazy huge fine.

i hope it sells well, and we'll continue getting these level of cars from Japan.
