There was an older thread on somewhere on here where Mitsubishi said you'll be able to get the X with a choice of DSG or manual transmission. I can't remember if it was going to be a 5 or 6 speed, but if the engine has the flat torque curve they say it's going to, then I'd hope for 5 speed for durability. So hopefully that report is true so people can get the transmission of their choice.

Correct, this is the "Concept X" which is the basis for the new Evo X. The look of the car will no doubt change slightly for production, I would expect more news in about 2 months on the new model X

What we do know about the car...it will have a new motor all aluminum (no more 4G63) with at least 300hp out of the box

. Other than that everything is speculation.

I disagree, while I wasn't sold on the new GTI I loved the DSG. Out of all the DSG or similiar style equipped cars I've driven the GTI was hands down the best. Perfect upshifts and perfect downshifts 100% of the time, plus you can just leave it in auto whenever you feel lazy. That transmission is truly the best of both worlds. In 10 years I bet you'll be hard pressed to find any sporty car without a transmission like that.

DSG is ok (I own an A3 with DSG), but I would hate to put it on the track. Upshifts are the shiznit, but downshifts are somewhat disconcerting. The rev matching is just not quite there yet, IMO.... actually I wish I could disable the rev-matching.

I can't wait for the X to come out.

That "New Galant" pic is a photoshoped image of Concept-X, it has been taken from http://www.hvtm.hu/ where they have a bunch of photoshopped cars so the Galant pic that you see isn't even an actual concept.
