Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
Styling wise, it gets a big "meh" from me.
I don't think the exterior looks nearly as aggressive as the current models, although I do like the wheel design.
The interior is hit and miss for me. I think the dashboard layout is okay, although there's too much blank space between the radio and HVAC controls. I do not like the gauge layout nor the steering wheel however - both are a big step down from the IXs.
I'm not too crazy about moving away from the 4G63, but as others have said we'll have to wait and see what the aftermarket can come up with. Being that it's an all new design, it'll most likely take a few years to get a good idea of what the block is capable of.
I do applaud the fact that Mitsubishi will apparently still offer a traditional manual transmission. No matter how technically better a DSG-type system might be, I still wouldn't want anything other than a normal stick shift in any sporty car I own - I just prefer the feel of a 3 pedal tranny, and don't want to be forced by the manufacturers to go with something else.
Thumbs down to the additional weight. Why is it I remember reading some months back that the Evo X was supposed to weight less than the IXs? Plus, while on paper the engine will produce more power than the current model, aren't the IXs somewhat underrated anyway? I don't see how they're only making 286 crank when dyno tests show them making 240 to 250 at the wheel. For an AWD car, the numbers just don't add up.
Anyway, I knew the X was coming when I ordered my IX MR back in March. At that time, I had a feeling that both Mitsubishi and Subaru would be going more mainstream with the next generations of their rally-inspired cars. With Mitsubishi, at least, it appears to be true. While I don't dislike what we're seeing here with the X, I also have no desire to trade in my current ride for one. Not at this point anyway. I'll have to wait until the fall to see what the new STI will be bringing to the table (debut of the STI model will be at Frankfurt this year, I believe).

manual definetly for modding...
and probably the 2nd year its out (2009 Model) i hope to have the evo ix as more of a track car or possibly keep insruance for the occasional drive... and have the 10 or some type of luxury sports car as a daily driver
We don't know that. They haven't said anything official about the manual on the Evo. Various publications are speculating or maybe have some inside info, but some of them are saying 6MT and others 5MT.

I just bought my 8, but I guess I will be buying.............a IX, not this thing. looks good and all but it just doesn't sit well with me, especially the fact that an auto will be offer. who is mitsu trying to please here?
EVo X - Maybe it's the color?
I thought maybe the reason why some people dont like the new concept X might be because of the candy red color... so I figured I'd change the color... add a CF lip kit / wings / mirrors / pillars... and see what u guys think.
