I have no way to prove it but IMO there are more people driving Vettes who could care less about its performance or know anything about how it did in ALMS or whatever then there are people driving Evos who don't know a thing about WRC.

So what's your point?
I agree that evo owners are into motorsports more so then any other driver.. but you pretty much have to be as there is no missing the fact that it rides like a race car...and thats not something normal people want to deal with everyday.

WRC is awesome.. but ralliart is not even racing the evo anymore, plus there are no WRC races in the USA... so who has been to WRC race here? People tout the evo has as an offroad race car, but the only racing they are doing is on the highway..in which case AWD = slow.

I think hes saying that its irrelevant to compare evos rally success to corvettes road course success/strengths. The two are pretty different as far as platforms/functions but are compared because of boths success. Believe it or not the US evo was designed after rally but really in no way was meant for rally over here, it was optimized for the road. There both awesome cars, for mitsu sake they better just keep the price reasonable.

In Estonia the EVO iX GSR costs 2.6 times the cheapest 06 lancer... so if the same logic applyes, then EVO X will be about 36K in the states, as the cheapest 08 lancer in the states will be approx 14k.

So al lot of us aren't "normal" because we choose to drive our Evos everyday. I don't understand why someone would want to drive a big gaz guzzling SUV built on a pickup truck frame, or a lifted pickup with with mudder tires all the time. Most performance tuned Corvettes up until now don't have great rides either, nor does their body shape, ingress and egress lend itself to daily ease of use, or driving up steep inclines or over potholes.

So it really doesn't matter what I am willing to "put up with" on a daily basis, but I'm not so arrogant to say everyone else is abnormal because they choose to drive something different then I prefer or consider tolerbale.

Again, most Corvette owners probably haven't been to an ALMS race, or overseas to Lemans. Most of Corvettes wins have been in overseas European circuit racing. So that leaves "hgihway" racing for the typical Vette owner too. Again, I fail to see what you are getting at - or why you are even trying.

You do not know the specs or the performance figures of the X to say it will or won't be worth 40K. Your Corvette ego will remain in tact as it will still be a more expensive and prestigous car after all is said and done. But the way that you are trying to prove that it "better" is pointless.

"mitsu sake they better just keep the price reasonable." Exactly what im saying... and I love here how everyone screams biais constantly. I put 90,--- miles on an evo! that probably twice the seat time of anyone involved in this thread has.

You clearly have never been to an ALMS race. There are 1000s of vettes that make it every year.

Yep.. where the evo is worthless, hence why I moved on.

Yeah, well hopefully they read this forum so they can get that wonderful tidbit of knowledge from you before they make a terrible mistake. I'm sure all of the engineers, marketers and brainiacs that work there could use your help.

1000's huh? Right. Considering the car's long production it would need to be that and then some to say Most Vette owners attend racing events for it. IF there are thousands at each racing event, then there are tens of thousands that don't make it.

I'm sure theres a picture somewhere of a bunch of Evos showing up at a rally or road racing event. Like that matters.

Yep.. where the evo is worthless, hence why I moved on.
Wait, all this talk about high falutin' sanctioned racing, and you're more worried about "high way" racing? You shouldn't have bought an Evo in the first place, or you didn't spend enough money on your car. Take your pick.

Actually I said that, that is just my opinion though, everybody is entitled to their own. Be careful on the arguing though, I already recieved bad points for "flaming"

Evo X Frankfurt Sept

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/07/n...gt-r-to-tokyo/

Good news for fans of fast Japanese Cars! The EVO is coming! The EVO is coming! Autoweek is reporting that the new generation Mitsubishi EVO should be making it's world debut in production form at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, which your dedicated Autoblog crew will be attending with cameras in hand. A lightly modified version of the new EVO showed up as the Prototype-X Concept in Detroit in January, and US sales of the production version should kick off in January 2008. A month after the EVO debuts, the Nissan GT-R that has been photographed so frequently of late will also have it's coming out at the Tokyo Show, and we'll be there, too.
