Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
Right. "Evolution".... GM axes LS6 for LS7 (dry sump, 500+hp) and "evolves" while Mitsubishi builds a Lancer Evolution on a Dodge Caliber platform, axes the engine which makes it an Evo, stuffs in a ****ty weak *** aluminum turd, and voila: Evo X.
What a joke.
That would be the equivalent of GM building a sports car based on the Chevy Equinox/Saturn Vue chassis, and using a hopped up V6 and calling it a Corvette.

I kinda remember when Porsche moved away from using air cooled engines a lot of people complained that the 911 just wasn't a 911 anymore because it was using a crappy liquid cooled engine rather than the archaic aircooled engine that had powered it for so many years. They were right. 911's really suck now.

haha, i'm all in favor for ANY evo, as long as it's true to being an evo (great exterior styling, and fantastic performance). Change is inevitable, But soon in the not so far future, these VIII/IX will be dinosaurs (as far as the bodystyling goes) im sure. so haha, i aint too worried about it. i'd get my hands on any evo if i could. < my 2cents
By the theory that the X isn't an Evo because it lacks the 4G63, it can also be said that *every* C5 and C6 'vette (including the Z06s) aren't true Corvettes because GM stopped using the cast iron Small Block 350 and opted for a brand new, ground-up-redesigned 346ci Aluminum block engine instead. Hell, but that reasoning, the legendary and rare C4 ZR1 isn't a true 'vette. You could also say that the Corvette ended in 1955, after just 3 years of production because they stopped using the "Blue Flame 6" 235ci 150hp engine in 1956.

Wow, I guess you're right.. With a smaller Aluminmum engine that shares nothing with its predecessor, unorthodox driveline, and body that's built differnetly than the previous generation, the C5s and C6s are not Corvettes. They are a DISGRACE to the Corvette heritage, and anyone who owns one, or would even want one are fools! Thank you for showing me the truth.

I think it is safe to save the Evo X won't be winning any time attacks in the next 5-10 years. Its just going to be too heavy, and weak (no iron block). For all the retarded X fan boys who will enjoy the car in it's stock form, it will be excellent, and I think it will be a fantastic sports car in stock form. However, when it comes time to modify, it will show its true sucky nature (expensive, no aftermarket support, weak aluminum engine, and very heavy and extremely TALL chassis).

lol remember when we were having this same conversation about the IX? That MIVEC was gonna ruin the 4G63.....I am gonna miss our little GALANT VR4 Motor but hey its not Evolution if it stays the same right???
Hahahah

Guys, just relax until the X actually comes out and is tested before complaining about it like old wash women. And tall chassis? Look at the VII/VIII/IX compared to the VI, your precious Cedia based Evo looks pretty tall too...
Hahahah

"The only figures we care about: an expected 300 or more horses from the new high-performance 2.0-liter turbocharged MIVEC engine. This lightweight mill has an aluminum cylinder block (the Lancer Evolution RS has an iron block and aluminum head). The new engine is part of the Global Engine Alliance, for which Mitsubishi jumped into bed with Hyundai Motor and DaimlerChrysler for four-cylinder offspring."
