Evolution MR - Mitsubishi Racing [MERGED]
This looks like good news and an interesting possible direction for mitsu.

Okazaki said the retrenchment plan risked cutting Mitsubishi Motors' operating scale below the minimum needed for survival but said this could be remedied by exploiting the company's "DNA" as a specialist maker of sporty cars and sport-utility vehicles.

MR is scheduled to arrive likely in October. Somewhere between late Sept. and early Nov. it'll be at dealerships. That's the info I've gotten from a reliable dealer who is on top of it.
i really don't think anyone should pay anything over msrp on the mr, if mitsu sees that the mr is selling well they'll bring more. 1700-2000 units for the entire us is bs... we're their moneymaker and they'll bring it when we want it. maybe 1700-2000 for the first few months but that's enuff for the people that can't wait to pay msrp, the others can get it for msrp or less, no problem. look at the way the numbers worked out when evo viii launched. 1700-2000 is a lot too, this is a trim line of the evo. if they're bringing somewhere around 5000 '04 evos plus 1700-2000 mrs that's a lotta viiis. and if it's the contrary and they're not bringing that many 04s all that means is that the evo isn't selling as rapidly as you think and there's still no problem. it's not like you can't find evos in dealerships right now and it's certainly not the case where we have to "buy quick now or miss the opportunity forever." there's even a used market for evos now... don't sweat people.
so definitely a thumbs up to not supporting sheisty dealers that wanna mark up a whole lot. let's all be much smarter than they think we are.

Most Evo owners and buyers aren't on this thread and buy them as weekend toys. They are the ones who if they get wind or have been paying attention to publications will be snatching up MRs with little regard for a few grand to play with one.
The big push from dealers will be to get them sold before November when it starts getting cold and the Advans have no grip. Most manufacturers release their new models before or in in the summer when they are able to be enjoyed in the nice weather. Bringing the Evo in the fall will make it very attractive to enthusiasts who will then use the winter to prepare it for the open circuits in the spring.
But come November, I bet only enthusiasts will be willing to purchase a car that will be a near nightmare to drive home in the cold.

That's why they are selling like hot cakes here in CA...Cold? S..N..O..W, what's that? Rain, that water stuff that falls from the sky in other parts of the country right? So, we also get the huge markups that don't go away, and really ****ty, really expensive gas too. Hell, a lot of the dealerships still ask 15k over to this day out here.
i don't know where you live... but i live in los angeles... also known as one of the few places you find vipers in dodge dealerships, also known as the place that is home to beverly hills mercedes, one of the nicest places to buy besides germany (which also has a maybach in the showroom). and no one is asking for 15 thousand over.
