Yup I took the filter adapter right off my stock maf and put it on the evos. The two have the same outside dimensions. I had a reallllly bad problem with my stock maf where if I let off the throttle in boost and hit it again it would jerk really bad. My guess is it had something to do with my tune but now its a smooth transition with the 399.
nice man.. wow i'm kinda afraid of tunning.. i got everything for the kit.. exept water and oil lines.. where does everyone connect the oil line, to the fitting right above the oil filter??i know the other one, we have to tap the oil pan..

I used an oil sandwich adapter works awesome!!!
Ok so question, in the pic below I have a hose circled, it comes off my valve cover and wraps around my bov then connects to my intake tube going into the turbo. I was looking over some stuff today and noticed the hose was off the intake tube, (pretty sure I prolly forgot to put it back on last time I took off the maf.) Anyways noticed my idle went back to its kinda rough idle when I hooked it back up. However I noticed awhile ago it seemed my turbo was spooling a little slower than normal, and now its back to its lively state. So its slightly off idle and great spool... or perfect idle and poor spooling wierd. Thinking of putting on a little filter off the valve cover like most people seem to do then capping the nipple on the intake tube but what do you guys think?

i say u get a oil catch can, they're pretty cheap on ebay..plus adds some looks. i got one, and cant wait to put it in when the whole turbo install is done.. couple more parts i gotta buy and thats about it
just bought a 04 evo 8 ecu today.. cant wait to get that... than i'll need major help, i'm really into this project, and everyday seems like i learn something new.. i was going to ask, anyone running dsm 450cc injectors? i got those and a resistor box.. seems like thats the setup all the honda guys go with...i only know one guy thats got this setupon a lancer and its the guy that i bought my t25 turbo kit off of. but than he's running a aem ecu box. dont know how this setup will work with the evo 8 ecu.. anyone got any suggestions? and good luck 03lances .. where did u buy the sandwich adapter??
thanks!!

Thanks vityenyka05 sounds like your setup is coming along nicely. I pulled the hose off today and capped the nipple on the intake tube, bout to go test it out now. Gonna get a little filter to go off the valve cover so its not just open dirty air getting into the valvetrain. Sandwich adapter came from ebay, $30 Glowshift brand I believe. I am very happy with it not a drop of oil leaks from it, install was effortless, and all my glowshift gauges work flawlessly, (oil press, egt and boost). My oil pressure while cruising is usually between 60-90 psi I believe depending on the day and if the engine is still cold etc.
Ya.. catch can will do the trick.. but dont forget about the other vent thats out the top of the valve coer and connects to the intake manifold.. it also has ALOT of blowback.. i added an inline water/air seperator to help stop blowback
Hondas i really well known for bad oil blow back.
i noticed when i was pushing over 12psi i also got alot of blowback out the valve cover.. mine had a filter on and and not a tube so it seemed to drip or spray everywhere.. thats why i decided to do my valve cover like i did, so i have 3 vents all going to a big catch can..
honda guys do this all the time because of there internal pressure build up, figured it wouldnt hurt to do it on ours either.

Wait so are you guys saying that oil will blow into that tube and enter my intake tube??? No wonder when I took it off today there was a ton of oil around in the intake tube. I took some electronic components cleaner and cleaned the 399 maf really good then sprayed a bunch of engine degreaser in the intake tube and cleaned it up really good. I was hoping with removing the hose and blocking the nipple on the intake I would get the best of both worlds a nice smooth idle and good spoolup. Well this does not seem to be the case so now I am not sure what to do. I have a nice smooth idle (although low), but it seems even more sluggish on spoolup now??? Gonna log tomorrow to check my afrs and whatnot to see if I may be running a little rich now. My new fuel strainer came in today and put some fuel injector cleaner in the tank. I might wait until I get the new 1:1 rising rate fpr to install the fuel strainer hopefully between all this it will fix my slight lean in the 3500-4500 rpm range
YES OIL DEFF BLOWS OUT OF THE BREATHERS ONCE U GO TURBO. I WAS PLANNING ON DOING SOMETHING SIMILAR TO WHAT Demon_ni2 DID (GREAT JOB BTW) I'M GOING TO GRIND OFF THE 2 WIERD LOOKING THING ON THE VALVE COVER FOR THE GAS PEDAL CABLE THAN MAYBE COVER IT UP WITH SOME GOOD PRIMER WETSEND THE WHOLE THING, AND TAKE IT TO WORK TO GET IT CHROMED.. SINCE WE GOT THE SPRAY ON CHROME MACHINE AT WORK. HOPING IT WILL COME OUT GOOD!
ANYONE RUNNING A SETUP WITH THE DMS 450 CC INJECTORS AND A RESISTOR BOX?????
ANYONE RUNNING A SETUP WITH THE DMS 450 CC INJECTORS AND A RESISTOR BOX?????
