For the 02-03 lancers this seems to be the case, as far as I know no one else has tried to use an 05 ecu but me. Also from what I have gathered in my research the 05 ecu is considerably different in code than the 03-04 ecus, one thing I did not try was flashing the "universal" VIII rom 95630006, this rom is the only way for 05 evo owners to utilize most of the tephra mods

Alright so not much to update here, I bought another ecu only to find the crank signal input in the ecu was fried, trying to get a hold of the person I bought it from and he is not responding Not only that I managed to find another individual who has an issue with an item from him and is getting no response as well

Well unfortunately it sounds like tomorrow I am going to have to file a claim with paypal over the ecu. The seller is not being very cooperative. He is trying to say I may have fried the ecu which is impossible for me to do I always have the battery unhooked when unplugging/plugging in ecus into my car. He claims he is a mechanic but yet he never bothered testing the ecu before shipping to confirm operation of the ecu. I have tried to reason with him even offering to pay to have it shipped back (which I do not have to do since it is on him). I guess if paypal cant do anything I have a $140 paper weight... sweet

What a stroke. I hate people like that. Reminds me of the time I won a complete Evo VIII 16G6 turbo setup off of ebay back when I was putting together my 16G6 kit. It had like 5,000 miles on it and was cherry. The guy didn't put a reserve price on his auction and I ended up winning it for like $75. I was on cloud 9. When I contacted him for payment he's like, "you and I both know this turbo is worth way more than $75 - I want $250 for it". I cited that this is a binding agreement with me winning the auction on ebay, so to be a smartass he's like, "ok, i'll sell it to you for $75 but shipping/handling is going to be $175." It took less than 5 minutes to explain the situation to ebay support and have them act on it. Shady sellers =

Best of luck to you getting everything taken care of!

that sucks man, what you can do to is if you have any previous pics on here that shows you explain that you take off the battery hooks before installing everything and show how many users view your thread. maybe that will help just tell paypal you have proof that you have a procedure .

hope that helps

Thanks guys, unfortunately due to a mistake I made when sending the money in the beginning I cannot file a claim. I contacted paypal today and apparently when I sent the money I must have checked personal payment thinking this is what I needed to click since it was not from a business instead of good and services when I sent him the money. Just a heads up to anyone NEVER click personal payment, because of this the paypal rep stated there is nothing they can do even though I explained to him directly in the note box accompaning the payment states its for a vehicle ecu. Well I will give him until the end of today for him to respond to my most recent pm and if nothing then I will at least give everyone a heads up in his FS thread of his selling practices. There are 2 others right now that purchased something from him getting ready to file claims as well. I think I have given him ample time to fix the issue and all his replys basically indicate he has no intention of trying to remedy this. Most expensive paper weight I have ever bought...

Yo anybody know if the stock fuel pump strainer is restrictive compared to one you would get in a set with the walbro? I am getting lean issues in the 3500-4500 rpm range and have plenty of injector left. I am thinking of just buying another stock strainer to see if this fixes the problem unless its restrictive itself. Or maybe I can clean it or no?

Ok so just a little update, I have been hard at it trying to determine how our ecus determine what cells to use in the fuel table and have found some interesting results. It seems the timing maps follow our ecuload pretty accurately but our fuel maps are another story. I started logging afrmap in evoscan and found that even though my ecuload would let say tell me 2500rpms with 45 load (all this determination is while in open loop btw if anyone is wondering) my ecu was clearly interpolating between the 80-90 load columns. I also found that anything over 90-100 ecuload the ecu would access my highest load column (150) Not only that but our ecus have a bottom of 10.01. This means that even though we can lower it to 7.4 in the ecuflash table its pointless to drop it past 10. I have confirmed this by bringing all my values and previously had below 10 up to 10 with absolutely no change in actual afrs.

I have since rescaled my fuel tables to 210 and have been ignoring load all together and using my afrmap to determine what cells to alter when tuning my fuel with great results. Before my afrs were like this:
2500 11.2
3000 11.6
3500 12.0
4000 12.5
4500 13.0
5000 12.3
5500 11.7

Now it looks like this:
2500 13.1
3000 11.8
3500 11.5
4000 11.2
4500 11.8
5000 11.6
5500 11.9

As you can see I still have some tweaking to do but you can see the difference, each of these is the average of 3 back to back runs. I am still very much tuning its all pretty interesting to me. Still using the stock ecu for now, I wil keep updating as I go along

I cant say if my extreme differences in the fuel and timing load lookup are due to something in my tune, maybe my maf scaling or injector settings so some of you may or may not have this issue. But if any of you ever noticed that your afrs havent been reacting to your adjustments like you think they should I highly recommend logging afrmap to help confirm where your ecu is taking its values from.

i was hoping the evo maf would help with the air flow at high rpms because of its ability to meter air at ~50 lbs/min; therefore help with the lean issue.

i haven't tuned my car at WOT yet, still breaking it in. I also have the 399 maf.
