finally!!! I thought I was going to be the only guy with this much boost. 17 pounds is amazing with this car. Thinking about increasing my timing to get the boost to build up quicker, Im still getting knocks at high rpms when I stomp on it. But it cant be timing so its got to be late fuel delivery

All I'd think you need to change is reduce timing by the number of psi you are adding, then run a few pulls...unless you are already capped out on load and need to rescale or something.

Ya Steven I figure its about time. I could be mistaken but doesnt lowering the timing some help the turbo spool faster? You loose a little low end but the turbo will come on a couple hundred rpms sooner. I thought I remember RS talking about that before but idk for sure

That is my basic plan, and actually after looking a Stevens map he is running very similiar timing to mine so all I have really been doing to ironing out my timing map making it smooth as butta. I should be hitting higher load values with the increased pressure pushing the timing down that way too. I am not maxed out on my map but I might give myself better resolution in the 200-240 load range in my rom. I am not going to touch anything but the timing until I can log some pulls then ill adjust any other items as I feel is needed. While I am in there I might try adjusting some of the idle settings to figure out why I am having the low cold idle issue. Wierd thing is is that it is way more exagerrated at might when I am getting off work. When I am leaving for work I can tell its idling a little lower than it should but nothing like midnight when I am getting off.

I think that is only for the 2 step, I remember having my timing so low where it took me forever to make some power. Im not sure we will have to ask roadspike lower timing would make sense now that I think of it but you dont want to be in the negatives, I think of timing as in the vacumm area lets say you have 2 degrees in 200 load area, if you increase it by 1 or 2 degrees the computer is basically telling the motor to spin faster to catch up to those degrees in the map

edit** actually I just thought of something, You can have lower timing to increase more boost, and have higher timing to decrease boost. I was just reading on turbo effiency and the evo 8 turbo starts loosing its effiency around 24 psi.

Im running 17 pounds of boost Im going to log my car tonight and figur out what load range im in and see what timing is safe for 17 pounds. So expect a log tonight on my thread

So incase anyone was wondering I found the problem with my car. A piece busted off the disc that holds one of the springs in place causing the disc to bind up as soon as the clutch was released and stay bound until the car was turned off.

Here the piece was bent in half

here is where it broke off

Do you take the flywheel to be resurfaced, or can you do it yourself? How long does it take (either way you have it done).

I resurfaced mine when I changed it last when I did my build. It still looks fine and my clutch grabbed mint so Im leaving it as is. It not something you would want to do youself (or really could without expensive equipment) better to take it to a machine shop its usually around $40 and just drop it off and pick up next day (usually have other projects ahead of yours)
