I thought he welded a flange on.

Anywho, what upper hose would you use if you get that 456 radiator? Would you just eyeball it at the autozone, and pick whatever is close? I think I may do the same, so long as I can get me a good working top hose.

Ya I seem to be the only one with this probelm using the speed corps manifold. It literally sits on the manifold. Kinda ticks me off about it.

Hornstar. I originally was going to weld a flange but as soon as I put in my order for the flange I got a mssg saying they were going to make some more. As far as the upper hose goes ya im just going to find one that works. I have a few radiator hoses laying around the shop ill probably find one to work or piece together a hose then match it up to one at the parts store

what kind of temps are you guys seeing that worry you. The highest I saw the temps go up to was 230 degrees. At what temps can we expect to see headgaskets start cracking and things start going bad??

My biggest thing is I want to match pre-turbo. I had 210 max with no turbo, on a pretty hot day, so I want my post turbo temps that cool. The inside puller fan can be a 14 inch, so I've got one on order. I think I'm convinced I want the 456 instead of 789 radiator, so that the hose is way the heck away from the manifold. The thought of a vented hood has also crossed my mind...but damn if I want to be on of those guys with a ugly A hood where people say "well if he had spent more on his engine, and less on his hood...."

Now, I see up to 230 as well, on 110 degree days, give or take...maybe up to 240, not 100% sure

terminology might be a little off, not sure about DC. but in basic terms...
Make sure ur fans are all wired to a hot source and not all on a (parrellel)/piggy backed circuit, otherwise they will not spin as fast.. that is if u have more then 1 fan. and if u only have one fan, check the wire to make sure its maken enough volts.. if its powering something else, ur not helpin any

learned that one the hard way.. DURRR?!?!

And when i had an oem radiator, i was doing fine with 2 10'' fans.. was always around 200
now.. im always below 160 with it in the trunk.. lol

visual aid; big no piggy back rides here!

Im not seeing any overheating unless I started running a little low on coolant due to the small leak I did have in the hose. Then it would have to be a hot day and me sitting in one spot for like 10 mins. As long as I was topped off there was no problem. Now with that thing blown through I said time to actually fix the problem instead of temp patch and worrying about it later.

So I measured and at the tightest point in there its about 1 1/4" away from the radiator :-/. So thats cutting it hella close if that one I see is 1 5/8" vs 3/4". 7/8" difference, so lets just say 1". However that 1" would not be all in the front right? I mean lets say 1/2" in front and half in back im thinking it might fit. Although I dont know how much the engine actually shifts under load either.

Well I did it, I put in an offer on a evo 5 radiator. Either way whether I get this one or another I will be getting an evo 5 radiator so I will post pics when I get it for clearance.

Thats my other concern at this point. After I get this radiator we will see how much room there is and then I will go from there.
