Old News!! 4G64 Swapped Into A 2002 Lancer
not a direct swap, the heads need to be welded on if I'm not mistaken, basically everything that he's done is just to show that Lancers have an engine swap that they can do! lol
As for how much power they can handle...no one knows. I don't think I've even heard of anybody breaking the Lancer's axles because of too much power. Then again, we haven't really seen anybody make much more than 300whp
What head are you guys talking about putting on what block? Are you talking about the 4G63 head on a 4G64 motor? I don't know the specifics on that one, but I seriously doubt it involves welding the head on. If you're talking about the OP's swap, he used a 4G64 head on a 4G64 block. Nothing special needed for that...just an oem 4G64 head gasket. If your talking about the 4G94 head on the 4G64, forget about it. It doesn't fit.
This swap uses your Lancer's stock axles. You're using your stock transmission internals in the F5M42 (the transmission from the 2.4) housing. That's the whole point of doing it that way. So that you don't have to make custom axles.

Dammit....oh guys unless someone can provide a link, cut it with this pissing contest (since neither of you seem to be able to prove your point).
True_Story, please edit or delete your last post, there's no need for that on here.

now i have a question....if we (non evo lancers) cant put the whole 4g63 motor in our car ....and the 4g64 block drops in our cars ...how is it that the evo's can throw in a 4g64 block to do the stroker thing but we can put the 4g63?
I would assume it's a clearance issue more than anything else. Does anyone actually know what's involved in putting a 4G63 head on a 4G64 block cause that might help answer the question.
There is someone, but he is an evo who did the whole evo head on g64 block, and he has posted before. I don't think it was on this forum, I'll look for it and let you all know.
