EVO 8 body kit on Lancer ES 02-03
Well i just picked up the wiring harness for 100$ and it is an electronic speedo, and the computer does not go into limp mode on this model to the best of my knowledge. I am still way under budget and all i need is the front subframe/steering situation. The entire car is currently wired without the new harness the ONLY thing that doesn't work and the wipers. Everything else works. Brake lights, headlights, stereo, dash lights and cluster all have power now. The ignition module is all ready to be hooked up to the new engine. The ONLY thing holding me from putting the engine in right now is shipping, i just found a damn good deal on shipping for the parts(215$). My goal was to have a RUNNING Lancer NOT driving by June 1st. I am telling you IT WILL BE DONE! It won't be driving for 3-5 months. I am performing a sex change as you are turbotime, and I like the 6speed 4G63 idea. But the 4G6's are exspensive. The set up I am doing are a dime a dozen and its not a 350 hahaha =)
I WILL have a RUNNING V8 Lancer by June 1st! You all can believe it or not.

I'm not going to keep at this or I'm going to turn into amby lol with that said sounds like you have everything down in theory but just give your self enough time to deal with unforeseen issues that will arise. Things also change when you start to physically put all those parts you have into the car and fit them together.
Good luck.
Good luck.
I beleive in you......hey man to tell you the truth the time frame seems pretty short with a huge conversion like this but i will take into consideration that you are saying the car will only be starting by june 1st (which i have marked on my calender) so be prepared to have a video posted here by 11:59 pm on that day or else you have failed at what you said lol but use this as constructive criticism and use it to your advantage because i have people here in cayman telling me to buy an evo 3 because it will out perform my car that i am building and my car won't run 8 sec on the 1/8 we have here.. which if i wanted one i can pick one up for 4 grand but i choose to prove them wrong so I hope for your sake you can prove these guys wrong with that being said once again good luck
I'm guessing this thread will never be updated again once June 1st rolls around. Saying "it has to run, not drive" is a pretty big copout. Technically the engine just has to be there for it to "run" but going from a running engine to a fully functional car is a pretty big leap.
i love the attitudes around here. just because you yourself might not be able to do it in the timeframe he's aiming for doesn't mean that he can't. we also have no idea what his skills are, what the shop is like or even how many people are helping him. he could have 10 guys who do this kind of stuff for a living helping him for all we know and then he can have it up.
even if you don't get it done by your target date, don't listen to these idiots. good for you for trying something new and not living inside the box like the rest of the people on this forum.
i applaud you, mad_canabice, and the dude who is making the evo coupe on a mirage chasis for being unique.

Originally everyone was under the assumption when he said he'd have a running v8 lancer in 3 months everyone assumed a running road worthy vehicle nor did he mention otherwise until a few posts ago.
He may very well have 10 guys who do this kind of stuff for a living ready to help him... For free for the next month? I highly doubt that
whether the engine is in running or not for june 1st is irrelevant at this point I wont even go into details about how a v8 is going to be much to heavy for that chassis and is going to handle like pure ****.
I'm all for being unique and I support the guys efforts. I'm just trying to help since I'm well aware of the complications involved with such a task.

i never said i would do it. that motor will be WAY too heavy for a lancer(depending on which v8), but that's not what we were talking about.
the negative attitude towards anyone modding their cars on this forum is just getting old. i only came on here again because i was told about the 3 people actually doing something to their cars and i was quickly reminded why i stopped coming here in the first place.
i'm not gonna argue about anything in this guys thread though. there's no point

He has no formal training, that's the main issue. He's attempting a massive project on a shoe-string budget with an unbelievably restrictive time frame. AMS takes longer to do a drag car build and they have a budget ten times what this guy has and an entire team of proven professionals at their disposal.
He's also presented a general tone of not knowing what he's doing throughout the thread.
Also, according to this quote
Posted on February 18th, he has until mid-May to have a running V8 Lancer.
Haha im not a professional at anything really, but know enough.
Also, according to this quote
All you others who dont believe. Im telling you i will have a running V8 Lancer ES in 3 months.
Bow taken, and yes i loooved all the support for this project when i started hahaha. Right =/
Anyways if you look back at when i set the deadline, I clearly said. "I will have a running V8 Lancer in 3 months for under 3k"
No one believed me, well here in about 2 weeks the engine will be in the car and the rest of the time will be making it all work. I know the car won't drive for months from now.
I am putting the engine as close to firewall as possible to try to keep the weight somewhat close to 50/50. Although i know it will be head heavy with this setup. The engine weighs in at about 430lbs fyi and tranny i heard is 170lbs. So it won't be horrible if i set it up right. I could also do an awd setup later if i wanted, but that would require about a year of front end work hahaha.
Anyways thank you to those you don't like arguing! T Time and Mad Cani good job on your swaps. Wish you both luck.
By the way yes I am 19, I am doing this BY MY SELF, I fab random stuff all day for work, I make 15/H, Have my own house and garage, I have a 1 month old baby girl =) and getting married next year, I am taking a trip to florida in 2 weeks to get the engine tranny and rear end. I am very mechanically inclined. A car is just a bunch of random materials put together with plastic and metal. Something anyone with common knowledge should know how to finagle. Although tuning an engine or playing with fuel curves are definitely not my expertise hahaha.
This will car will be running by June 1st despite everyone's amazing support in the beginning haha.
