Its interesting that they had a number of AWD vehicles available with decades of refinement over and over but thought their focus was sooooo much better but still needed significant development.
- I got kinda turned off that they tried to pass off "engine problems" and further bandaid it with octane booster because of poor quality (95 ron) fuel on a test motor. So if you get stuck with 91oct US fuel and throw some octane booster in the car will be good to go? I am not a chemist or an engineer but I would be inclined to say no.
Something is up my peeps...

I'm more puzzled by the fact that used snow roads to tune the high performance handling. Would seem to bode well for winter rally racers, but except for them, how many people intend to push the limits on snowy roads? And even among rally racers, how many ever see snow competition? If Ford really does intend for the RS to be rally capable, I hope they did development on gravel roads. I would have much preferred to see a segment on that.
we all love to drive in snow, and i dont know any rally racers who didn't drove in snow competitive.
snow is one of the most effective equalizer in motorsport history.
you want to tune your car handling, snow is the one will show the weakness of your system, set up or the car.
(hence the point, why you even see exotic cars testing on Swedish lakes in the winter)

i think the ultimate test for power and handling (not for brake testing) would be as i found out latelly, the deep sand.
drives simular to snow, but takes a huge toll on drive train and engine. Heat etc.

"In normal driving, the RS pushes around 70 per cent of its torque to the rear..."
Well, there goes all the hipsters in this thread whaaaambulancing about FWD bias.

aww.. you missed us. gonna keep trying until someone validates your posts? :P
re: the thread, taking a few steps back, i still think this is going to be a fun little car. i'd like to have one as a daily, maybe play at an autox or HPDE a time or two. i don't expect it to be a race car, which is disappointing considering it's an "RS". i think we have to just admit that it's not a replacement for the Evo VIII/IX. maybe not even the X.
i would consider the RS in the same group as the VW, Audi, etc. and i'm okay with that.
I guess drift mode is your preferred method of "normal driving."
Whenever I get in any car I drive, I turn nannies off, and if there is an option, sport mode...lol. If I had an FoRS, I would probably always be driving it in drift mode.
But if your just cruising around, it should be of no concern where the power is going. It's not like you can tell when you're cruising down the freeway.

they talked about improving the exhaust note towards the end of the video... I'm wondering if this happened before or after the Goodwood Hillclimb with KB driving... I'm hoping they're still trying to improve on that, it just sounded like a crappy blender in that... except at idle, I liked how it sounded at idle
