track car suggestions / discussion
Here's one of the cars I was referring to.

That's one sweet looking BRZ! Almost makes me want to drive one. I'm a fan of the Yuzu on the Scion TRD offering though.
What about an older Porsche? Boxsters and 996s an be found pretty cheap https://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/ctd/5248475758.html
The FRS/BRZ can be very fast with FI and setup well. It's a great chassis but yes that motor is a dog in NA form.
Here is an example at one of the local tracks. 1:59 is VERY fast for a street car on this track. Video below that is my buddy in his 991 GT3 (only alignment and brake fluid upgrades) at the same track for comparison (he does 1:58's)
NA BRZ's do something like 2:1X driven well. I currently do 2:07 (Street tires) in my mildly modified 10 and did a best of 2:02 (R-compounds) in my Evo 8 back in the day. A very well setup Evo 8/9, with good tires are capable of 1:57-1:59 at this track.

I'm really considering the s2k right now. its kinda looking pretty great for modifying slowly as I track it...
there are no sarcasm tags on this forum, but it's pretty obvious i wouldn't sell my car over a $100 bottle of trans fluid :P
a friend of mine ran a "disco potato" turbo on his Miata for 7 years. over time, he had about $40k into the car, but NOTHING was untouched. it beat many cars and became well known in the Miata community. i guess you get what you pay for LOL. anyway, no lag, plenty of power (around 260-280 on a safe tune, IIRC), and handled like it was on rails, thanks to spherical bushings everywhere. what a great car. but still faster, for less, than an FRS, i think.
i still love the 86/BRZ, though. what a fun car. if i were buying something just for fun = Miata, but if i were going to drive it around town more often and be seen = FRS.

With the S2K, everything is going to cost you less with the exception of the car itself (prices are on the rise, just like the Lotus Elise) and a hard top if you wanted to run that.
