64* ambient... hmm. Would like to see how it works in 100* ambient.
you make a good point, but those are still super impressive temps for a modern turbo car with zero cooling upgrades. Most modern performance cars (with a few track special exceptions) are built to a standard where they can do maybe 2 hot laps before seeing ridiculous temps… that being said I would like to see how much the temps grow in 90-100 degree conditions as those are pretty common temps around here in the summer

Thats honestly not bad for how little you have done to the car. I'm sitting here watching the grand am series running lime rock and they are in the low 50s. If you can get the supra down to 55ish with more power, aero and seat time, that's going to be super impressive.
There was a 911 cup car there on Monday and he was running 56's. That said, there where some corners I was right with him so I think he wasn't the most outstanding driver, but man those cup cars sound amazing...

Good info.
My evo seems to be fine when its 70ish ambient. 100 ambient and it can't hang for more than a couple laps, coolant temp runs off.

Here is some footage of the 911 cup car. I'm chasing an F80 M3 on hoosiers while the 911 cup car keeps cutting through traffic to get to us.

Really? I had a track day this summer at Palmer when it was 95* and I beat on the car all day, seven sessions, 20 mins each. No power drop that I could feel. Coolant hit like 210-220 at one point but dropped. The coolant cycles differently depending on demands.
What kinda boost are you running with that JB4? Probably too much, lol.
EDIT, just read that you are talking about your Evo. Nevermind.
1. What are you using for cameras/video? That's amazing clarity.
2. Does the catalyst feel in the way when looking for RH apexes?
Forward facing camera is a Canon M50 with an external powered mic mounted outside about 3" above the right tailpipe. Recording at 1080p.
Rear facing camera is a GoPro 10 suction cup mounted to the rear window and recording at 4k.
Are you talking about the tablet on the far right? The Catalyst is mounted in the middle right below the oem center display. It doesn't get in the way visually at all.
the tablet on the far right is a samsung that I am using for RaceCapture and it also is doing laptimes and also datalogging the car. I'll probably replace the Catalyst with this but I was just testing it out this day. Surprisingly, it also wasn't in my way visually where it's currently mounted.
What did you edit with? I feel my Microsoft crap ruins the quality every time I make a vid. No matter which settings I use, it comes out looking like 720p LOL

I use Adobe Premiere. I'd like to actually get both cameras recording at 4k but the Canon M50 crazy crops at 4k, but I might place it a little further back and try 4k next time.
Youtube actually kinda killed some of the quality but whatever. Here are some frames from the video before I uploaded it to Youtube:
So I finally got to see a Supra in autox. 2020 model, "5XX HP/ 6XX torque" is what i remember. It's all set up for Gridlife (got decals on) and I believe the driver is more track than autox. I gotta say, that car has no business racing in 2nd gear. It just have too much low-end torque for its own good! He was still trying to figure out tuning/driving adjustments when I went home (crossed-out ones are fun-runs)
I hope you guys are doing better auto'xing the Supra.

I was second in my class to a Lotus on tire. I got close. Not bad for a show-room stock car after only about 10 mins of seat time.
Then again, horsepower doesn't usually win autocross races.
It's the only time I've taken the car to autocross. Might be the last, but we'll see.

That's another car I cant gauge from our region. We have a supercharged/exige
But youre right. I think the track surface/traction ("pebble-asphalt") is just exceed by this Supra's low-end torque. A concrete surface might be a different story. I hope to see it again at a different venue. Maybe he'd have an autox tune by then.
I guess driver matters. If I could pick any car for autox, it would be Exige or at least an Elise. They seem to be cut out for AX.
taking care not to damage your bumper parts/front shell can slow you down a lot all our top pax drivers got front damage. I got some too. The Lotus is probably going to be expensive to fix
i'm interested to get into the GR86/TypeR/D class. The competition is really healthy this year. I was interested in the Supra, I'd like to have a backup automatic car for my wife if and when her car needs service (it would be my daily)
