2005 Evo 9 GT
Imported from Japan in late 07 with the intention of turning it into a dedicated tarmac rally car. The car has been built to CAMS (Aussie Motorsport body) M2 tarmac rally specs. They are quite restrictive. Financial constraints have meant that so far it has only been used for a local hill climb series and club level sprint events.
For those of you that are unaware, the GT is basically the JDM 9 RS with the GSR interior. So that means it comes with the 5 speed gearbox, no AYC, thinner rear window glass and the same turbo as the RS.
Current Spec
- Stock Intake
- Stock Turbo
- Stock Internals
- Ralliart Panel Filter
- Ralliart Intercooler Piping
- Ralliart Clutch
- Stock Dump and front pipe
- High flow cat
- 2.5" Exhaust from the cat back
- Autronic SM4 with launch control, traction control, anti-lag and rotational idle configured. Mapped on 98 RON producing 217kW (approx 291hp) at the wheels. I've run a 12.4s 1/4 with a 1.9s 60ft. So the car is probably capable of close to a flat 12s pass with a decent launch.
- Racepak IQ3 Dashlogger mounted on carbon fibre shroud
- Motec Diff Controller
- MCA 3 way (hi/low speed bump + rebound) remote reservoir coilovers (http://www.mcasuspension.com/main.htm)
- Whiteline adjustable rear swaybar
- Whiteline roll centre adjustment kit
- Alcon 6 piston front brakes + Pagid RS19 brake pads
- Stock Brembo rear brakes
- FIA Cro-Mo weld in cage
- Cobra Evolution S seats
- ERG harnesses
- OMP steering wheel
- Kill switch
- Bonnet (or "Hood" to you guys!) clips
- Spare wheel holder inside the cabin
- Carbon front door cards
- Helmet net
- Stripped as much weight as possible including aircon. Car weighs approx 2965lbs with half a tank of fuel.
What I like about the car? The way it works as a package. Without any engine mods to speak of it's a very quick car. It's been very competitive at every event I've entered it in.
What I don't like about the car? I may have to sell it!
Plans for the future? Unsure at this point.

Nice! I drove a IX GT on a hillclimb earlier this year running a GEMS ECU and ACD controller.
Sad how a stock Evo IV would've probably weighed around that or less. Our cars are so heavy these days.

Yeah they're not light. Another local has recently put together an Evo VI TME and I think he's about 200lbs lighter than me without pulling things like the aircon out.
There's a really nice Evo III RS running around locally here as well.

Just came back from track. I have to say, evo felt more alive with the HTA green (used to have green), same suspension setup (alot of bushing, RSB, Swift sport springs)
I think I maxed out the Z1 Star Specs and MR 'stock' suspension, time to put on the KW V3 Coilovers and get the NT01s for January event.
.. and thanks to Andrew@GTworx and Smikevo for their feedback on Suspension and tire setups

Getting evaluated, yes I moved up

Wish you guys made it out West...
next year we will,
we were too busy this year as a company with our clients cars to really get good time in the car, we just had ADVAN here yesterday and confirmed that they are our tire supplier again for 2010...
we WILL make one west coast even next year,
