This thread doesn't get enough posts. Keep the content coming! I love checking out other peoples rigs/tow setups. Sadly not much has changed with my setup. Still hauling with my F-150 3.0 Power Stroke. Tows the open trailer with so much ease.
I tow with my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado Duramax diesel 6 cylinder turbo. My trailer is a Featherlite 17 foot 2012.
On the highway I get 20 to 22 MPG towing the EVO.
Straight highway not towing I have gotten right around 31 MPG with a high of 34.
Comfortable, Quite and tows like a dream with 460 ft. lb. of torque and a 10 speed tranny.
Ya it's crazy to me that the manufactures keep offering these nice diesel options but then slapping a gasser option with EXACTLY the same torque and in most cases 100 lbs less towing capacity due to weight of the diesel motor, right next to it. "I" get how the diesel is worth the extra $5k but the general public doesn't and it's gonna kill off small diesel options which will suck.
Not evo related but I towed with this truck for the first time. Ford kill it with then generation of trucks. Excited to take it to the races this summer

I'm about to buy one of these newer LZ0 3.0 Duramax's. Super impressive the mileage that guys are getting with these on and off highway and with the upgrades they made to the LZ0 it's a no brainer vs a gasser as a daily commuter. I'm going to keep my 6.6 dmax for towing heavy loads. I'm always going to push diesel over gas for towing as I don't really see the downside unless you only tow a handful of times per year.

a guy at work got one of the 3.0 d max and it’s hard to believe the mileage he’s getting. I think he said 26 freeway empty and 19 pulling a 20’ camper. Super impressive
Gents, are tow hitches rated by just the (solid/hollow) shank portion? I'm looking into this brand because I need a receiver for my winch. should I be worried about the welds being the weak point on that 2"drop receiver? I dont plan to use the tall side for pulling the trailer. I have the harborfreight type dual hitch which is only rated 4000lbs so I dont use it for long hauls

Ford makes a great truck.
Holy Tongue weight! Assuming thats a man's sized track machine over 10K you've got alot on the front of that trailer.

it’s a smaller skid 239D - approx 7500lbs. The blower is around 1200 so 8700lbs. Sleds are roughly 500lbs each so 9700 on the trailer and another 1200lbs on the bed. Not too much overall but the tongue weight was up there.
Maybe in 3/4+ ton it does but I disagree on the F150. I've got a '19 F150 3.5 Ecoboost w/ max tow and it's waiting to go back in the shop now (with a minimal 41k miles). Already had the cam phasers/timing work done (took 5 months). Now I'm waiting to go back to see if my transmission problems I've had since brand new are able to be replicated (hammer shifts, goes limp on first shift to 4th after warm start) and now rear end clicking/cracking sounds when going between forward and reverse. The dealer I bought it from is perpetually 6+ months out for "heavy" service and their sister dealer they send me to is 2+ months out on loaners but at least I can get on a list. Now they're telling me their new policy is they will call you when they have a loaner ready and if you don't respond that business day you're off the list.
Oh man, that sounds like a pain. I have the same truck, 19' lariat 502a, 3.5 w/max tow. I have ~55k miles and warranty is just about up and I need to get in for cam phasers. They just started making noise. Only other issue has been sunroof leak I had to fix with some preventing the water running down the air blocker spring.
I do have occasional hard shift 1-2, but only when its cold on the first shift. But it has to be like really cold.
I want to swap my truck out for a 5.0 Super crew to add a whipple.

You think that's bad, try owning a GM or Ram that constantly lose lifters and wipe the cam or engine. My dad's 21 Denali has 30k miles, got a new engine at 21k, and the replacement is starting to tick like the first one already. He's going to lemon law it.
The new phasers with new ECU calibration for the 3.5 are fixed.
Trans issues are valve body or CDF drum, and there's a revised parts for both with TSB.
