Shocker here he is!!! I thought Dodge and tranny issues are a thing in the past? And for the last time its RAM Truck not Dodge they re branded so therefore your advice sucks lol (sarcasm font here).

From the sounds of the initial post, I read it as "well Id like to maybe get a truck if I ever decide to tow something" and then "boom 1 ton here I come!"

I guess at this point I have nothing useful to add; I think its a matter of pick your favorite. We can get into specs and oh this has more torque or oh this has more payload capacity but lets be real here...any of those trucks and pretty much all the trucks on the market today are great.
yah i was joking about the apocalypse haha, but who knows grid failures can happen, solar flairs, hackers, other misc b.s. would just be nice to have the ability to hook up a generator and know the power plant behind it is in good working shape because im using it on the regular.

The Bed camper/boat combo would be a different setup then the 5th wheel camper.

Yeah, It really does come down to which truck do you want. Drive both and buy what you like. It's certainly an investment at $80k for a new truck...lol.

And I know what you mean by the ford looking weird. If I got one, it would have to the Platinum trim level, makes it look awesome with body color bumpers and grill instead off all the chrome.

The wife and I where planning on getting a trackhawk, but then we where like well we both have Evo's so that seems kinda dumb, maybe we should get something awesome in ways the evo's are not, and that will open up fun future activities.

Well if your plans involve campers and fifth wheels as I said prior it seems you will be better suited in a larger truck.

Your best bet is to go to a few dealers and drive them and see which you prefer. I dont see this as a which is better evo or sti bc that answer is obvious one is clearly better, lol!

But trucks these days are just so good that its almost like which one looks better. And I like where your head is at. Trackhawk would be super cool no doubt but what purpose does it serve? The beauty of a truck is how versatile it is. Now that I have a truck I dont know how I could live without one.

Perhaps it will just end with which ever one will give me a better deal. I don't think I could live with myself if i bought a bowtie though so thats probably off the table.

Chevy is junk anyways. The IFS front end will never be as good as the solid axle on the ford and the dodge.

Why does it matter if it has a solid front axle if just towing a few times a year? Seems like pretty much anything midsized can get the job done.

5th wheels and truck bed campers load the front axle quite a bit. Chevy unit bearings and boll joints like to wear out.

Maybe if i was single and didn't want to pay for a house/apartment. Then again I always thought it would be cool to live on a sail boat for a couple years. Otherwise yah....pretty useless 95% of the time. Unless of course you wanna start cooking meth lol

@Biggiesacks... Just noticed you're in the Bay Area (assuming SF Bay Area). If you're thinking about a Ram, check out South County in Gilroy. They've got the best deals of anyone I've seen. I got my optioned out 2500 Laramie mega cab for $15k off msrp earlier this year.
