Just towed a car from Seattle to L.A. with my 05 Sierra Duramax. It didn't even downshift 1 time climbing any of the steep grades :P Got an overall average of 18.8 mpg on the way doing 75mph up and 15.1 mpg average on the way back doing 65 mph with the car/trailer.
where do you guys store your trailers, if not at your house/backyard? curious if there was any kind of storage facility i could keep one at, the townhouse doesn't really have the space
Find a storage place that offers RV/trailer parking. Same kind of place you would rent a storage unit from.
I don't care about the sound, doesn't bother me in the slightest. I want a cab that can't rust out. Plus better fuel economy, better off road capability, more lights, overall better looks and a nicer interior are all plusses to me.
The cam phaser stuff is fixed, they've pretty much sorted all the issues with that engine.
I didn't say fuel economy offsets the price of the truck.
I know I could bolt better suspension on, but that takes time. I just want a truck I can be confident keeping 15-20 years and not worry about it withering away.
The cam phasers are fixed. They're not in production yet. I work in the building that does all the development work for the 3.5L EB.
Must have been fun seeing your new toy in the rear view mirror on that long drive home!
Sometimes I forget I'm towing and get startled when I look in the rear view mirror and see a car right there :P No joke it happens at least a couple of times when I'm doing long hauls.
Pretty excited to get her on the track and see if I can actually drive it properly.

Very timely post. I learned yesterday the the CC&Rs for my neighborhood do not allow me to park my new trailer in front of my house. The a-hole across the street sent an e-mail with a picture of the trailer to my landlord informing her of said CC&Rs. There's a couple of RV storage places in town, one of which is a five minute drive away.

your truck is maybe worth 40k. A Jenny is 70. You're not saving $30k on fuel in 20yrs....lol.
It's about the truck not turning into dust because the midwest does that to steel body vehicles.
Honest question here: Do you really think you'll have the truck 15-20 years? It won't matter that the body is still in one piece when the frame is rotted to hell, the technology is antiquated/broken, and the drivetrain was built by Ford. I've got a '19 F150 XLT SC w/ 3.5 and there is no way I'm keeping this thing past the warranty/payment. I will be amazed if I keep it all the way until the payment and warranty are up, actually. I should have done what I have been talking about for years and built myself a 96 F250 crew cab short bed.

I used to park one of my trailers in front of my house until recently the neighbor across the street backed into it one night and ripped her bumper off :P After that I didn't want to risk leaving it on the street since as you mentioned in Cali you are not allowed to park a trailer on the street unless it's hooked up to a vehicle and even then they only allow it to be there for so much time. I understand the law and as much of a pain in the *** as it is it's probably better that they don't allow it because people would just leave their **** everywhere with no care in the world otherwise.
