2017 STU Discussion!
Alright Ladies and Gentlemen I need some help/direction. I am a hair under 6'6 and weigh 250lbs with a 36 inch waist. I really want to put a seat in the EVO X and was thinking of going with this:
http://www.murraymotorsport.com/prod...seat-008802fnr
My main goal here to get the seat as low as possible for obviously reasons (6'6
). Does anybody here have experience with what my best options are regarding getting the seat as low as possible? I would like to avoid custom fab work, I don't care about sliders and am not against just bolting the thing in a fix'ed position as nobody drivers my car outside of me. If I have codrivers....oh well sucks for them lol.
I have never put an aftermarket seat into any of my cars and am wondering what to do with the seat belt, air bags, wiring. Also what can I expect drop wise cause if all this work is for an inch or so, then it simply might not be worth the time and effort. Thanks in advance.

The proposal regarding the changes to allow open ECUs (open boost via changes in the ECU) and plug-and-play engine control modules is intended to address the inability to enforce the current rule, while continuing to allow common tuning modifications.
ok so p&p (friend's here: http://www.burgertuning.com/vw_volks...JB1_tuner.html), easily detectable, a physical addition, is okay - but MBCs, because they are easily detectable, are not okay. great rule here lmao. it's 1999 again and we should all be running apexi piggybacks!
answering my own question here:

logical rules beckon...
that said, is this going to be legal now?

all right guys. looks like the AEM PNP ECU allows boost control. that's the solution guys. a few thousand bucks instead of $75 to be STU legal. yaaaaay
checking to see what the sandbox thinks of this insanity.

The stock ECU has boost control on the Evo. The solenoid is the limiting factor, not the ECU. Putting an AEM inifinity on the car will net the same results as far as how much boost you make goes.
Yea I'm not sure the intricacies as I've never ran an AEM before. From what I've seen there are a lot of moving pieces with it, but certainly more optimal than a stock ECU, and whatever the stock ECU can do with the stock BCS, the AEM can do and better - and apparently, may be legal in this class.
