I've seen that too but I have three gauges I'll be putting there and I'd prefer a simpler, more truly "bolt-on" or "suction-on" solution. I'm tempted by the mounts which use the seat bolt on the floor but I'm concerned those arms aren't solid enough.

I'm aware of the thread and have read much of it but not all, and I don't recall seeing discussion on mounting. Even so, I posted here because I was looking for input specific to Evos-- even more specifically, 8's and 9's.

There was a specific mentioning of a generic tablet mounts that lots of guys use there. If I find it, I will bring it here as well!

You could try putting velcro on the back of your tablet and just placing it in the backseat footwell area. A friend tried it once with his tablet in my Evo and it seemed to work well. I have a suction mount on the windshield and it seems to work ok, just have to make sure everything is tight and won't move much during the run.

which rule allows you to put heat reflective tape on the IC pipes?

is it legal for the battery? I'm assuming so based on what you can do with the battery

Welcome to ASP!

And putting heat reflective tape on the battery is a good way to overheat it and fry it. Probably better to put a shroud around it with an air gap between the shroud and the battery.

interesting, I guess I'll pull it off both! I'm surprised, I thought most of the battery heat would be coming from the engine. at least with this small battery setup there's a lot of air space between the engine & the battery

I am surprised in general how hot the engine bay gets, but I guess there's a lot going on in there.

talked to Shorai, who manufactured the battery. They said the battery doesn't generate much heat (except if the balancer is overworked from being exposed to too high of a voltage), and encouraged me to wrap the battery.. idk, maybe lithium iron is different from lithium ion on whichever else batteries people are using

Curious as to why heat reflective tape on the battery would cause it to get hotter? Wouldnt by definition it reflect that heat onto something else vs like something such as a heat blanket which keeps the heat in?

Why even bother with the heat tape on the battery in the first place?

Spray it with some ice water between runs

I doubt the heat reflective tape will do anything but it sure does look cool. Intercooler pipes seems like a decent application as the air is moving through there so itll help but something like a battery seems like it would heatsoak even with the reflective tape. Sure it might buy some time but at the end of the day if the temps in the engine bay are say 200 degrees the battery will eventually also be 200 degrees as well.

thinking more about when air is constantly moving through the bay, i.e., when I'm doing HPDEs - still provides a cooling effect if air is moving through. I still use the OEM air guide that funnels air to the air filter too.

I'm sure it's very marginal impacts at best
