2017 STU Discussion!
I fried a brand new Ballistic 12-cell battery in one day by putting heat reflective tape on it. Go ahead with whatever you feel best and works for you.
I'll be there driving a FoST in GS.

Custom Endlink update. 320 miles, 2 transition heavy autox events....perfection. Silent and they work great. Anyone battling rear endlinks for the X that clunk, just use the parts list I outlined on the other page
Finally had a double header after 7+ weeks of no angry parking lot driving. Car is also finally aligned for the new rates/coilovers that I have been running for a while now. In summary, the thing is no longer snappy and loose. Car is PLANTED. I attended the Philly Holbert Memorial Event this weekend which is a tight slalom/transition heavy course and did pretty well. I could have def thrown the car around harder, but the new trust has not fully sunken in yet lol.
Day 1:
Seriously I must have just barely run over the base of the cone as the corner worker (my friend) said it just fell over lol. .1x pax wise behind Shane is STR as he made the trip up from DC. Would have been 3rd in pax, KM/STR/STU....would have could have...wasn't, other runs crappy.
Day 2:
I felt like I drove better than day 1, but the results don't agree, won the class overall, but pax'ed 11th out 134 which i guess isn't too bad on this style of course.

Big NNJR Event with an awesome sweeping course. 145 entries, 3 heats, 6 runs. Heat 1 had 5 dry runs and than it started to rain. I was running heat 2 with vastly changing conditions.
Run 1: Rain, set a nice time
Run 2: Dry line appearing on the beginning of the course, back half soaked (not aggressive enough)
Run 3: Rain
Run 4: Same as Run 2
Run 5: Dry line appears, the second your off the line, game over
Run 6: Dry
Set a great time on the final run, fastest STU car, 8th in pax. I also had two very experienced national drivers take the car for a spin. Hez L. (BSP/STR/AS) was giggling saying he is amazed on how responsive and willing the car is. Perry (SS GT4) said the car has too much rotation and is loose on turn in. Also said the car is too stiff and bumpy. Personally I agree that the car was too stiff for this course, but I'm not sure if I am just used the car being lively or if it's too loose, but I sort of like it.
The course was UNSUALLY bumpy, they actually used my car to test it as they know it is one of the stiffer cars (800/900 rates). With the weather and my stuff not being waterproof, the view and sound sucks as I had to move everything inside the car.
46.4
Hez 47.5 vs Perry 47.3 (solostorm sucked all day with GPS issues so the video is a little into the course)
each only had one run during heat 3 dry conditions, both saw the course many times prior in different cars.

Chris, you prefer the back end to be loose? I turned the rebound down some in the back before my 5th run and picked up 5 tenths followed by another 5 tenths on my last run. Car still rotated fine, but was more stable under braking and confidence inspiring for that course.
I prefer looser cars. Maybe I am just used to it but I don't seem to have too much trouble with it as I typically know where it is going to step out. I guess my biggest fear is turning the wheel and the car plowing. I did loosen it up some for this event by turning the front compression down/rebound up and going up on both rebound and compression in the rear. I dunno, it works for me, but now im thinking of going 700/700 square rates. I tried 600/800 and it was loose as hell. 800/900 i like but on bumpy courses you get beat up and the rear shocks are essentially very close to their limit with that rate.

Not sure what the 9s make but I have a feeling the X makes a little more and has more torque.
Also had another event this past friday with the local NASA MSNE club. Smaller Friday afternoon event but the car with the new seat really fits my style now. FTD, Top Pax

We will see how it does with NNJR this week, however I am happy that my pace is usually found by lap 2-3. We had 8 runs and after the first run everything else was within .3 seconds.
With extra boost thing next year, situation will improve even more for the Xes...
I wouldn't worry so much about HP, the TQ is the bonus here
My car made 286whp on a Mustang Dyno with 100 octane, with a stock exhaust manifold and o2 housing. The dyno that the car was tuned on is supposed to read lower than the average Dynojet.
