No fluid leaks so engine is in same shape as prior. May have cracked intercooler or ripped intercooler coupler so a BLT would be a decent idea but from the looks of it you should be OK for both of those.

yea boost leak test would be worth doing just for the sake of it. i wouldnt worry about anything else if you dont see any fluid pools or anything will be normal.

Also got to admit you lot have expensive panelbeaters hahaha

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/pr...ld-thread.html

i got under the car today, pics in the new thread, but couldn't see anything torn, or anything really that would make any kind of popping noise, or anything related to the crash at all

good idea. GTFO of here hahahah. just kidding!

In other news i successfully seperated the ACD ecu loom from the main loom last night. along with the alternator loom, brake lights, power mirrors and wiper looms. it was great character building haha.

Now to fit it all up with my Haltech patch loom

@ayoustin , we're going to need a build thread for that new 2.4LR build.

Haha, I like to keep my build stuff consolidated to one thread but yea I'm looking at a ton of OT (like 20hrs/week) at work in the near future so that motor should come together pretty quickly. Plan is to order most of the parts between black friday and the PRI show so hang tight for another month or so and you'll see some stuff

Nice. Sounds like things are looking up. I'll read every last detail of that build thread.

What made you decide to go with a 2.4LR? For a long while the 2.4 fell out of favor.

Because above 7500 rpm or ~450hp the 100mm OEM crank is a liability.

Mostly curiousity to see how much the extra displacement changes the behavior of the car. This won't be the last motor the car sees so I'd like to try different stuff and see where my preferences fall.

Any forged aftermarket crank is ~$600 regardless of stroke and since I won't be revving past 8k or making over 500whp I don't need anything more fancy than that. Forged crank, some mild rods and pistons, get the block machined, pick up another head, r2 cams and some springs and send it. There's still some details that I'm up in the air about but I've got time to decide.

Not sure if you had planned to get the trans gone through, but the taller FD would probably be ideal for that extra 2.4 torque.

Got my loom in and everything roughly in place now. Just need a tidy up and sleeve everything together and mount the ecu and fuse box properly. Not far away

Eh, I don't really care too much about final drives. Stock works fine, I'd rather spend the money on stronger gears. Reliability trumps performance when it comes to spending money, I don't want to lose out on as much seat time as I did this year. A PAR gearset is on option table but I'm going to chat with Jon more towards winter.

No it's just because he's upside down. If you flip the photo it's on the proper side.
