To be honest, I've always wanted to build my own engine. I don't mind investing in all of the right tools and taking the time to do it right, but I get nervous when I see more experienced builders on this forum running into unexpected issues on their builds.
Ive built 4 4G motors. 2.4, 2.0, 2.3, and 2.2. Across 3 different cars (2g dsm, GVR4, and 2 on the Evo). The only one not running still AFAIK is the 2.3 that broke the OEM 100mm crank. Im not a pro, I just read a lot of stuff, took my time. Now its just kinda NBD.
I am just finishing a forged engine for a friend so decided it might be good opportunity to test fit my scavenge pump on a built block... the sump on this engine is an enlarged stock sump, not the dry sump I am building for mine... Test fit has shown my measurement a bit off... the pulley is about 2.2 mm from the plane so the final mounting bracket will reflect that.. Small belt guide pulley is wrong size.. need to buy different one.. but all in all I am happy with the packaging..
yes it is intentionally large as the main crank pulley is large.... it is slighty underdriven.... pump has a limit of about 7000 rpm with 8000 as short term max.. so I have underdriven it so that it is at 7000 with engine running at 8500 or so... Originally these scavenge stages run at about 1/2 engine RPM but I would like to try to run sealed engine and vent everything trough the pump with something like -0.3 bar in the crankcase (so I can tolerate the pump running faster than usual for a pump of this size.) .. I will check what kind of vacuum it makes and then decide on the future.. One possibility is to run a bleed valve in the cover if the vacuum is too large. That is best case scenario...
Other options are admiting defeat and running a normal toothed belt from the crank nose.. In that case I have more choice on the pump ratio. The thing I am worried the most is the pump input shaft diameter and its strength versus the multi rib belt tension... Maybe I should have ordered one of the USA made pumps with really thick shafts..

Dang. But minor by the looks of it. Forced upgrades to Voltex stuff and maybe some straightening of the core support up top? Blitz is in perfect shape.....and you didn't need that headlight anyway...that's what counts Where and how when you get a chance to chill, gotta always review these things because at the end of the day they're shortcuts to being a better driver.
Sorry to see that, but it can happen to anyone at any time. My project today was dropping my car off at the roll cage shop to get door bars added to my 4-pt. I worry about paying for body damage or writing off a car, but I worry more about getting hurt or killed.
