yeah it was a joke. i thought some of you would have picked up on it with me telling josh he punches like a girl (true story) and telling ryan that we're taking it to the people's court (over PM).

i was bored this morning and thought it would be funny to ask about a new tranny and josh helped turn it into a mess.

he still hasn't gotten the tranny out so i hope i didn't jinx him or i and either of us end up really dropping it.

jeff, that sucks about the TC and the roof

I not gonna lie I was on Josh's side from what I understood on the forum.

"That whiny slipper wearing, bmw driving Dr spends 1/2 day in a shop, breaks something on his own car, gets loud, gets punched and now he is sending links to his ****ing lawyer. WTF is the world coming too"

in reality if i dropped it or even if josh dropped it alone, the last thing i'd be doing would be 1) getting a lawyer and 2) bad mouthing him on him on the forums or fighting with him on the forums.

btw i am not a doctor.

Lol. I was far too busy at work today to really play along as well as I wanted. The trans isn't out yet but I'm about 1- 1.5 hours from that point. I did finally get the pressure plate off the flywheel. The TOB had John and I going for a solid hour otherwise I would have dropped it around 10 last night. I tried a trick that worked in the Evo and slowly unbolted the pressure plate. So far it's been 2.5 hours of actual work minus the TOB. That includes several drop what I'm doing to help the wife with something stupid moments. There's really little if any difference in difficulty so far between the X and VIII clutches. Everything is similar with just a few little things here and there. Dan hooked me up with a PDF from MAP on the X clutch swap that helped immensely.

glad i could be of assistance in something with this. we were both supposed to start and finish it tomorrow into the weekend but josh wanted it for the week to work on it little by little each night which i think was a good idea instead of cramming it into two days like we're pros.

my job is to help him get the tranny back in and whatever i can do to help zip everything back up. i'm anxious to see how this clutch will be. i know the pedal will be heavier. this is by far my most favorite car. what car out there can you own for years and have it behave completely differently from year to year.

every since buying this bmw and looking at it and seeing how ridiculously it is set up makes me appreciate the DIY nature of the evo so much more. i felt like a drop a few man points today dropping it off at the dealership for an oil change (free maintanence still and you need a tech to reset the dash light....ridiculous).

/ramble.

Speaking of clutches and tranny, my car has been acting up the last two weeks. Shifting into first and reverse has been really difficult. My clutch pedal was near full height, and never been adjusted since the clutch install. I check the Works shifter bushings and they're all intact, even lubed them. Odd thing is, it shifts fine cold, and go through all of the other gears fine. But when it warm, and I come to a complete stop, getting back into first is a hit or miss...sometimes perfect, others very difficult. Getting into reverse is a tough time, and I can hear it going into gear. I tried bleeding it, and just adjusted the pedal alittle higher, which seems ok of first gear. Reverse remains a problem.

UPDATE: Adjusted the clutch pedal height alittle earlier and it seemed to help the first gear, but still nothing for reverse. Talked to Josh, and got some ideas to check for leaks, saw nothing. What I did find out is Lancer Shop sells a slave cylinder adjustment rod that is recommended for heavier duty clutches, liek the Exedy multi-disks. Oddly enough though, its shorter than stock, so I dont understand how that givens more adjustment?

If I were you I would be enjoying that thing not belittling it. BMW makes awesome cars, their engineering is outstanding and they also go around a track very, very fast even in stock form.

ehh bimmers....i dont have any experience with the new ones but (and it could just be me bc i know chu will come in and say something, a$$) all the older models always had mechanical and expensive problems once they werent new anymore.

that being said, the new ones are sweet, well built, and theyve always been great cars. im still partial to a turbo e36 M3 coupe (love that boxy muscle look).

Dan, I think you have anger management problems. ever consider seeing a doc? haha

i'm not belittling it. it was my idea to get it. she wanted a mazda cx7 . she just needed a little guidance in her car choice. it's just simple things like oil changes you can't do because you need the dealer to turn off the light on the dash. it's free maintanence for one more year still then i think we'll pay the cash for the extended maintanence. they really take care of everything even brakes.

she made a good choice. chau and i were talking on saturday about how it makes basically the same power of an e36 m3 and it is the base bmw.

happy friday. i have off. i was just called by otto's bmw saying they adjusted the headlight and will be performing a free "oil service" and will rotate and balance the tires for the low low price of $98. oh and they're going to wash it too. that's a bit of a different experience than mitsu.
