^ uhh yeeah. Nicely done

woohoo, my magic pads came from the mythical gyrodisc factory.

Word is, these pads are indestructable. They were forged by a one eyed mad man in the fiery depths of a dormant volcano with the pubic hairs of Rasputin, the adrenal gland of Godzilla, and of course ninja blood.

They are okay for a DD....I have been running them for about 35k miles. They feel mushy on initial bite (least to me) but they will stop fairly hard, just not sure how much I would trust them in race type braking (especially high speeds) - I am swapping them out for some new slightly more aggressive pads I want to try soon.

Plus I have new rotors sitting and waiting - the 70k mile stockers are all but done for me.

Yeah I know they're just satisfactory pads. I really wanted ebc's but I just don't feel like spending all that money.

I've heard many magic pad users equate their performance and longevity to moderately better than stock, which for the price is a good deal

what pad are u upgrading to trav?

Surprised it took that look.
So was he staring at you or the wing? Maybe he was looking for some man love.

Dropped my hood off to get painted. Should have it by the end of the week. Maybe in time for the Flat Out Day on Sat, which would be nice.

So, I have been calling shops today to get the final tally on parts and the wait time. I am here to ask for suggestions (sorry for this long post), but here is what I am looking at purchasing. I have decided to go the shortblock route because the wait time at machine shops here is rather long and I trust the reputable engine builders on the forums here as much as I trust a machine shops in Pittsburgh. In the end the cost will be relatively the same, maybe a little more expensive for the shortblock, but its less time and new parts, so what the hell.

From AMS,
2.0L
- Manley I-beam with ARP 2000 rod bolts
- AMS spec 2.0 Ross pistons with some special machining (makes you go practically light speed)
- A Mitsubishi Knife edged crank
- O-ringed the block, AMS race balancing shaft kit, gasket kit, L19 studs, etc.
AMS CNC Race Head
- Bronze guides, Inconel exhaust valves, +1mm oversized all around.
=$8979.98 (w/core charges refunded)

From Buschur,
2.1L
- Manley I-beam rods
- BR spec coated Manley pistons w/some coating
- Mitsubishi Balanced and machined crank
- Gasket kit, L19 studs, timing belts all that junk.
BR Racing Head
-Bronze Guides, Inconel ex valves, +1mm oversized
-Br Racing Fuel Rail (to go with my new Full blown DP)
$6625.00 (w/core charges refunded)

Is it worth the extra money to go with AMS? I like the fact that the BR is 2.1L, but they make a 2.0 I can pick up for 3050.00 instead, but I like the fact that this will use I-beams and it will be interesting to see the Green spool even faster. Both of these motors and heads could be ready in two weeks, which is right about the time I am looking to get this project started. So I am ready to buy now, then tear apart and return the cores.

I am also eying the switch to those ID2000 injectors, Travis. Are they worth the switch from my 1200cc PTEs? I know I will need more fuel come motor build time, now that I can really push things, so should I upgrade them in the process? Get these parts the F out of my garage. It will soon be stocked with more for the build . PM me and well set up a time to meet if you want.

Let me know what you think, and other viable options you have (time is an issue, as I don't want to have to wait 2 months for my car). I am going to get Shep to redo the T-case and I am still hunting for a 6-speed solution. I am going to rebuild the Twin HD while it is apart. I prey I don't have to go 5 speed though, I can't spend much more than I am about to.

Personally, I'd go with BR. $2300 can be put to better uses like a new turbo upgrade or those new ID2000 injectors.

Jim, both of those engine set ups can accommodate power demands well above what any sane person would attempt. I swear by Buschur engines as does half the Evo community. The other half swears by ams.

For all realistic purposes, either block should suit your needs and neither will fail. I would go with the cheaper of the two even without my bias towards br. You've done your research bro, I wouldn't even be asking us blokes on here what our preference is

whichever u choose, it = win

Thats what I thought. I really don't think I am going to push either to the brink of catastrophe. I mean hell, I am going to keep this turbo for a long time (prob never get rid of it). No way it is going to push the 800+ HP that these are tested for. With 2300 extra it will pay for my clutch rebuild, the T-case rebuild and a build on the 6 or part of the money to buy a 5 speed.

AMS blocks must be platinum coated and washed in the tears of small children to be that much more, and that much more than a larger displacement motor from BR. To me it seems the price should be swapped, but oh well. It looks like I call to order today...

Another plus for BR is that I can drive to pick it up and drop the cores off. Saves me the 500 in shipping for everything...

Ever consider the Buschur 2.0 and a shep 5 speed swap? Six speeds make good paper weights.

That is an option. Mike is looking to get me into the 6 speed build by Shep, but he only has one gearset available and he is putting it into his race car. If that doesn't work out, and TRE still doesn't respond to me (on attempt number 100000) then I might have to go that route. I really like the I beams though...
