Local Pittsburgh meet part deux
Well it was a great weekend of racing with some really amazing drivers and cars. We had 106 timed entries and 9 class records broken. We also had alot or carnage which made things interesting.
The weekend started out with myself having fastest time of the day till the last run. That is when Merlin Miller in a GT1 Sunbeam tiger pulled out all the stops and bested my time by .2 sec. I knew i had a little bit more in me so i thought i still had a chance at the overall victory. We woke up sunday and i just didn't have the competetive mood going. I went out and put down a good first run but scared myself alittle coming thru the high speed valley. (and its a serious pucker point). I then watched as Merlin put down a time within ..3 of his fastest time and i knew that he had more in him. I then watched as he took another 1 sec of his time and that put me in descision mode. Either go for it or let it go. This is hillclimbing and the cost of going to far can = serious bad stuff. I decided that i was not willing to risk what it was going to take to win this year. (You have to sometimes kno when to say enough is enough, and live to fight another day)
But, that was for overall victory. And there are still classes. So,
I took the ITE class win and set a new course record for ITE. I beat my personal best by about 1 sec and ended up 2nd overall. I will take that anyday!

Pic of me taking the green flag to start the weekend of racing as the defending champion. This is the mayor of Reading, PA senting me off. We also had the local State senator there to award the organizers with recognition for 60 years of racing this event and the history that follows it
So, how did you guys do at the shootout? They had a stock turbo class right?

Glad you had a good time Jim. Didn't they have some kind of stock turbo class? I know you'd have been a lot more competitive. At least your 1/4 mile time was consistent.
You are right....they did have other classes...but this was my first shootout, and I made the mistake of getting involved in the Max Effort because they combine autocross and drag. I thought that was the only way to do that...but found out after I registered...and ran, that I could have still done both, just had to sign up differently...
...you live and learn....
I was surprised that my sixty foot wasn't better...I couldn't get anything better than a 1.79...I think the rain we had on Sunday didn't allow Norwalk to be as sticky as it should have been.
OH BY the WAY.....scheduled for the E85 tune on September 2nd
I found this video on U tube....good cross section showing of cars launching...some really fast EVO's and DSM in the bunch.

so i thought this was pretty amusing. i was filling up at BP today and was staring blankly at one of their little ad signs they had hanging from the gas hose and noticed that the dashboard of the car in the picture looked a bit familiar:

looks like they're ACD is set to Tarmac too.

i actually wasn't in on the whole customer appreciation night thing. i will have to tell them i want to go to the next one.
i didn't realize you were going to be there or i would have told rod to grab me some tickets.
i wish i could convince them to trade in the Pirates tickets for Steelers/Penguins tickets.
good luck with that...Pirate tickets are much cheaper/easier to get. It was a good time, good food, good group of people. I told Rod to sell his Mustang and buy your EVO...
he has been kicking it around but said a new car will probably have to wait for a while until he takes the wife on a visit home to Macedonia and some other things.
Hey guys. So I finally picked up a DD and haven't been driving the Evo for the past two weeks. I go to drive it tonight and the car cranks but the engine won't actually start. Any thoughts? I sent Mike a PM so hopefully he can help me out with it sometime if it's not an easy fix (I try to screw with the Evo as little as possible).
