Local Pittsburgh meet part deux
Dyno tune and runs at PRP
Well...long *** day today...drove up to Buschur today, got a tune for Pump 93 at 25lbs of boost. 337 hp and 325 tq. Got back to Pittsburgh and ran up to PRP test n tune. For some reason the car wasn't boosting as much as I thought it should on the first two runs, decided to turn it up one turn...and got it back to 25psi.
Pulled a 12.15 at 113.8mph on Pump 93
Close to the 11's I want on Pump 93....just got to drive a better 60ft and have less gas in the car...

I never did get back into the 10s because of stupid mistakes (i.e. tripping the light in the staging lane/having under-inflated front tires), but did get a new best trap speed of 122.5mph (ET was 11.03).
Here's me tripping the light by rolling off the start. Would have definitely been a 10 had I not done that. Oh well.

Congrats on the trap speed...
My sixty foot has been pretty consistent at 1.7's ....even the other two EVO's I owened in the past (although not as much power) were always in the 1.7's I may need to launch differently....
I have this car set at 6000 rpm for the launch control. I may have to go higher. I slip the clutch and release just as I feel it grab, maybe I may need to experiment with dumping it more instead...but it sucks to bog a launch
I still need to sort out this pump93 tune, as it is just too conservative at this point, but it is really nice to drive in traffic with the AC on and not stalling.
I finally ordered my gauges, so E85 will be coming here soon !

I am going to suck it up and leave Saturday morning early (5am)...should give me plenty of time to get there, parked, and sign up for autocross on Saturday.

Glad to hear about you finally switching to E85. You won't regret it
That's more like it Jim! What was your 60ft on that run?

Hmmm....$90k verse a $25k car....
doesn't seem quite fair
Well...you almost had him...does he have a paddle shifter? if not, he could always miss 3rd gear next time you race him...

That was way more competitive than it should have been! Well done.
I've never seen a GTR down at Waynesburg's FLD. I'm going to drive my mostly stock Evo this month in Waynesburg, figure I'll get blown away but have some fun doing it. May take my Sky up too and let my buddy drive the Evo...

It was so close at the finish line that I actually thought I won the race. He did blow past me going probably 20mph faster, but I was surprised I held him off as long as I did. I've seen him at the track and he usually runs very low 10s with 135-140mph trap speeds. Big money in that car - very sick.
Buschur EVO/DSM Shootout
Heading out at 5:30am tomorrow morning for Norwalk....got my fingers crossed to get the car into those magical 11's on pump 93....
Hope to run into you guys....somewhere...
All my gauges are in and other parts, so when I get back after racing this weekend...hopefully will get that all put together sometime next week...and then its E85 tune time

Well it was a great weekend of racing with some really amazing drivers and cars. We had 106 timed entries and 9 class records broken. We also had alot or carnage which made things interesting.
The weekend started out with myself having fastest time of the day till the last run. That is when Merlin Miller in a GT1 Sunbeam tiger pulled out all the stops and bested my time by .2 sec. I knew i had a little bit more in me so i thought i still had a chance at the overall victory. We woke up sunday and i just didn't have the competetive mood going. I went out and put down a good first run but scared myself alittle coming thru the high speed valley. (and its a serious pucker point). I then watched as Merlin put down a time within ..3 of his fastest time and i knew that he had more in him. I then watched as he took another 1 sec of his time and that put me in descision mode. Either go for it or let it go. This is hillclimbing and the cost of going to far can = serious bad stuff. I decided that i was not willing to risk what it was going to take to win this year. (You have to sometimes kno when to say enough is enough, and live to fight another day)
But, that was for overall victory. And there are still classes. So,
I took the ITE class win and set a new course record for ITE. I beat my personal best by about 1 sec and ended up 2nd overall. I will take that anyday!

Pic of me taking the green flag to start the weekend of racing as the defending champion. This is the mayor of Reading, PA senting me off. We also had the local State senator there to award the organizers with recognition for 60 years of racing this event and the history that follows it
So, how did you guys do at the shootout? They had a stock turbo class right?

Jeremy...sounds like a great time...I must try this hill climb stuff for sure next year....
Norwalk was great! I would say a few thousand spectators...and several hundred cars....
I was in a Max Effort class, probably shouldn't been playing with the big dogs, but you gotta go where the competition is. I had Dave Buschur and Curt Brown racing in my class, so those two cars alone are 2 seconds faster in the 1/4 than mine. But, first day (Saturday) was an autocross course, I did well, came in 4th overall, right behind Dave Buschur. Then on Sunday its drag racing (using same tires as autocross), and both Dave and Curt put down mid 10 second runs....I managed a 12.1 again...so overall combined times, Dave came in first, and I am pretty sure Curt came in 4th...and I followed up with 5th. I believe there were about 25 to 30 cars in the Max Effort class. I haven't seen an official posting of all the times, but only top 3.
But...if you want to see every possible DSM/EVO...this shootout was the place to be...great time, and I am sure to go again next year. I met a bunch of people and picked up a lot of good ideas on how to spend even more money on the car
