Local Pittsburgh meet part deux
Well i just did my first auto X this weekend and all i have to say is wow have i been missing out haha. I have just done flashlight drags before this and i will have to say Auto X makes the flashlight drags feel like nothing. So hopefully next season i can do a lot more at both beaver run and north park and see how that goes. Cars suspension is stock and i have ****ty tires on, but hopefully over the winter ill be picking up new Nt01's and some suspension mods.
Im not to sure how the classes work for auto x but im guessing the NT01's will take me out of some classes. Im still on stock turbo with full bolt ons. Are you alowed to run C16?? or is it restricted to pump gas and E85. Thanks for any advice and help

generally speaking the people in the registration trailer will be more than happy to help a newbie out with classing their car correctly.
what are all your mods? might be able to give you an educated guess here.
Flashlight drags - Waynesburg
Well...I tried...buy without the new E85 tune, too hard to compete.
They changed the rules, basically the "EVO's" at least aren't allowed in the Top Tuner (thanks Dave
)) because they are too fast....
I had to run in either Big Dawg or Top Street.
Well...I was up against a Z06 with a few extra mods for sure (to the tune of he runs 10.8's in the 1/4) compared to me 12.11 in the 1/4
http://youtu.be/1sbeYAyyOMc
When I get back from Ohio on Friday...I will have my E85 tune, and will be looking for a rematch..it should be a much different outcome...since I will have more top end to match his 3rd gear pull.
I beat most of the Top tuner guys, 2011 STI, 2011 Audi S4, and the Lexus i300 guy...
Still had a good time...

the classes in autocross can be a little weird, and at times a bit complex. for example i was in STU until i put on tires that were over 245 width. since i am AWD that bumped me up in to BSP.

Intake, tbe exhaust, uicp, licp, fmic, mbc, twin disc clutch, boost/wideband gauges, rota 18x9.0 with 265's on them. thinking about picking up another set of rpf-1's since they are much lighter and i can get them in 9.5" picking up front and rear sway bars this week. I think thats it. head and block are completely stock along with suspension besides sways going on this week. Thanks for the help mondo
I just read over some rules, and it says that exhausts must exit to the side of the car or rear?? i have an 02 dump down pipe will that matter?? it exits right near the drive shaft... And the car might be too loud with that downpipe on the car, and i have no cats on the car.

If you mix C16 with water you cannot smell it from outside the car I heard. But you have to be careful during autox events. They smell for high octane jet fuels
yea those are some pretty weird rules to the classes haha, but my mods are:

i *think* your mods sound a lot like BSP, perhaps with the exception of the clutch. again it's been a while since i have read through the rules but i believe that BSP is restricted to a stock "style" clutch. but whatever that means?
unless you have any CF things like a hood or different spoiler (funny how a new CF hood will send you straight to Street Modified class) i would say you're most likely somewhere around BSP/SM...

It's pretty much all because of that douche that determines the classes because his son has a turbo'd civic that never has a chance against us in tuner class. There are faster AWD DSM cars out there than ours, so are they going to just eliminate all fast AWD cars from tuner to make it more competitive for the slower cars? Technically, our cars should be able to run in every class, but to them seeing an Evo sweep the classes would be Armageddon.
I think I'm gonna have to go to either the next one at Waynesburg or the last one in October.
Yep...I agree....since other tuners like the GTR and the guy with the 9 second white Eclipse would/can give us runs for our money.
But on the other hand....it does get old beating up on the weak
(Cobalts, Honda's, STI's, Lexus, Neons)....
What would be nice...is have just "Class 1", "Class 2", etc, and base it on people bringing a time slip. If you run 12 second range...you are one class. If you run 11 second range another class.
The nice thing....the guy with the Vette who beat me....made a nice comment and said my "launch" was "totally sick"...he had never seen that before...
I will make it back to Waynesburg before the end of the season...as I want to see how much improvement I get out of this E85 tune. Autocross up at North Park starts up again...so I will be at all of those events in Sept/Oct

yeah the first place the exhaust can exit is rear of the driver's seat. that's just to stop people from running an open o2/downpipe dump.

as far as the cat you need to run one in the ST* classes, however to my knowledge BSP/SM do not require one.
well wait, you're running a whole exhaust right? that's for people who just have a 3 foot tube that exits the side of the car with no mufflers or anything like that. as long as the end of your exhaust is no sooner than behind the driver's seat you're fine. i assume you're still running a full length exhaust, right?

ahh ok haha yea, the rest of the exhaust goes behind the car so thats good! and yea i can just put the cat back on since its only 4 bolts. so that will work. Is north park still going?? or will i have to wait until next season.

because you're in BSP or SM anyways because of your tire size i wouldn't even bother putting the cat back on since i believe you're fine to run in either of those classes without one. i know for sure you are in SM, you would have to check the rules for BSP, but i doubt it would be an issue.
north park will be starting up again sept 11th.
