Okay, I'm thinking it bolts to the IM bracket, which I don't have.

Edit: I'm just going to remove the EGR while the IM is off. I'll thank myself later.

yep just remove that junk. Luckily when I was doing my tranny/t case swap I was smart enough to think ahead and I unbolted the intake manifold brace because I knew I would pull the IM one day to get it ported. It made the job a tad bit easier

Home with my son this morning. Poor guy has a respiratory infection. Decided to do a little work while he's resting. Please don't tell my wife I was doing this on the kitchen counter...

Spare parts:

Much cleaner:

EGR valve gone. Ordered an STM block off plate this morning. Also going to coolant bypass the throttle body:

Much better. I'm guessing I can remove the FPR hardline, too. I'll look into that:

you should be able to run soft line from the FPR over to the hardline near the drivers side shock tower. I was planning to do that when I put it all back together because that hardline is ugly, and there shouldn't be a reason you can't run DOT fuel line the entire length...

what are you doing with a TB bypass? coolant lines?

Yeah. Just capping them off at the TB, and rerouting the lines that go to it. No use running hot coolant through it here in TX.

I only drive my car in warm weather as well. What are you doing with the lines themselves? just capping them off at the main pipe on the back of the engine?

Probably so. I'll see what looks best when I get to it. Need to work on the main pipe. The long one that branches off was bent up. I need to finish straightening it out, CLR the inside of the pipe, and paint it. Might be a weekend project.

New toy in the mail today. It won't get installed for quite some time, but it popped up for a good price. Couldn't pass it up:

Holy Crap Aggie! I just finished reading this entire post and it made me feel like I am out of my league... J/K I'm just "Nick-The New Guy" learning the work, i guess. I'll be doing a clutch and flywheel job on my second hand Evo 8 (which my brother beat up) next Wednesday. Can't wait to get it back on the road.

Dude, don't feel out of your league. I've been planning this out in my head for quite some time. I've known for years that I wanted to get into an Evo. 4 doors, AWD, boost. Perfect for my tastes and family situation.... not that my wife cares much for the spoiler...

Thanks for the kind words, though. I do a LOT of reading. I'll be doing a lot more when I actually start the car and find out what else is probably goofed up. Tuning should be interesting. I've read that the car will probably run even richer with the rewired Walbro. I may have to start logging and tuning sooner than I wanted to.

Updates for the day. I'm home with my son again. He's doing better but still coughing and running a small fever. Don't want to get the other kids sick. I wish this was the mentality of other daycare parents. I called the machine shop this morning. He said the block would be ready today, but probably late. Hopefully I can snag it before the day is over. We did run to the dealership real quick to pick up my lame parts. Lame, but necessary.

It's amazing how little $55 gets you at the dealership. Luckily I ordered a few things I didn't need. I'll take them back next week when I ordered a handful of other stuff:

Bolts and cotter pin so I could install the wastegate actuator on my stock turbo. I'm hoping the turbo is in good shape. I picked it up off the forums and was told it was good. Shaft spins freely with no play. No signs of oil. Worse comes to worse, it gets an eBay rebuild and I send it to FP for a spin balance. I installed the WGA with as little preload as I could get it. I'll have to go from there:

Finally ordered the nut and bolt to mount the FMIC. I've meant to do this for months but was lazy. I got tired of seeing it leaned up against the wall:

Same with the hood vent. I didn't have any of the hardware to put it on. I figured out how to install the little clips in the upper corners right after I took the pictures:

I also got hardware and a gasket for the muffler to midpipe connection. I have to pull the muffler back off the car and remove a broken bolt from it. Hopefully I can tackle that this weekend.

Updates later today.

Spent about an hour going through the rest of my wiring harness and labeling all the connectors. I only found one other connection that needs replaced. TPS connector is crumbling. Hopefully I can find one of those somehow.

Also going to have to replace my backup sensor. The connector on the sensor is trashed.

Other than some cleaning of the connectors and a little dilectric grease, it's good to go.

Wow man, I don't know how I never saw your build thread! I love the attention to detail. Looking back I would've loved to clean up the oil ports on the head and block, but I didn't know about it at the time.

If you ever have any questions about any of the stuff that I did during my build, don't hesitate to shoot me a PM.

To be honest, I wish this is all the further I went with my build. Should be perfect for exactly what you want to use the car for.

Good luck man.

Thanks man! It's nothing compared to yours, but I'm proud of what's going on with it. It's really going to be a blast when it's finished. Some very mild suspension upgrades and a little bit of power will last me quite some time.
