Awesome man. Can't wait to see it going. You have a lot of wiring ahead of you with that datalogger setup.

Anybody have a good source for high quality silicon vacuum caps?

Also, I can measure mine but does anybody off the top of their head know the cap size for the breather port on the intake manifold?

Update. The machine shop assembled the short block with clearances I didn't agree with (a bit too tight).

So it's back at the machine shop to see what they can do.

They're gonna have to line hone the block to open the mains, and possibly polish the crank a bit.

What did they set piston to wall at? Or did the sleeve installer set that?

Yea I am waiting to hear back their feedback on my request. They had already line honed the mains for the ARP hardware.

I figured they would machine or polish the crank.

I'm still trying to get the piston to wall measurements. RED did the cylinder bore for 86.5 (my request for my pistons) after he put the sleeves in.

The cool thing about pistons, is the size they list is actually the finish size for the bore. So, an 86.5 piston is actually 85.496 if the mfg'er wants .004" clearance, so an 86.5 bore will yield that.

When line honing for studs, they shave a few thou off the seat surface of the main caps, and then bore them back to round. This ensures any distortion is removed without oversizing the bores. There is a spec for main bearing bore diameter, they probably put it at the tight end I'm guessing, and need to take it out a bit.

So the block was redone and finished on the 7th.

Stated it was "redone to the measurements I requested" this time which where:

Mains - .0021"
Rods - .0022"

Top ring - .020"
Second ring - .022”

I asked for the spec sheet after doing it again and have yet to see it. I think this might be the first and last time I use a "old school" machine shop.

They charged me another $300 to redo the block, which included new main bearings so I guess that isn't so bad.

Either way I am anxious to get the car back. Going to contact my buddy at the shop on Monday to see what the progress is.

As of April 11th, the car will have been down for a year. :-/
