I guess I spoke a little too soon about the car running great again.

I went out tonight to do some tuning again. The car is really touchy now. I can't run timing at all before it knocks. The timing seems really low for E76, even for a 10:1 motor. Also, it's pretty clean during single gear pulls but if I drive it normal and punch it at different RPM points it lights up the knock light a lot.

Take a look at the log here: http://datazap.me/u/razorlab/pt58582...6&zoom=274-395

I'm starting to wonder if I have a boost leak or the oil that seems to be passing through the turbo is getting into the intercooler piping and cylinders.

I am also having a heck of a time getting the fuel trims in line and the car gets rich leaving lights and between shifts.

I guess time for a boost leak test.

Here are the latest power numbers at 25psi and like no timing. 2* at 4500 rpm and 9* at 8000 rpm. :-/

Did you ditch that fuel pump and check/clean your fuel filter?

Yup, brand new Walbro F90000274 and the SS filter was clean when I checked it.

Turns out the old pump that looked like it was from the bottom of the ocean surprisingly did not fail, it was the fuel pump controller.

It is flipping to rich because I am betting you still have that brass restricted return fitting in there! The fuel can't loop back to the tank at the rate it needs too!!!!

Nope. It is no longer in there. I can get the fuel pressure all the way down to like 10psi and barely have the car idle. So no restriction.

Currently have it set at 39-40 idle psi.

Yep, I figured that was likely the case, but still just checking. The pump may have still been working, but with that level of corrosion on the exterior, it may not have been in great working condition.

It seems like you've been through two controllers now. Is that correct?

On my second now.

I'm actually looking into a much better controller, currently in talks with the founder of Torqbyte.

razorlab - Humor me and plug off that high flowing PCV setup you created. I believe there is a reason that on vac the OEM PCV is quite restricted compared to your new setup. I believe you wrote above that the problem is not under boost but under vac/idle.

Actually I don't have a high flow PCV in the system right now. I ended up taking that bit out and plugging the intake manifold outlet. The reason I did that was the car had a high idle and I thought that might be the reason. I later found out the throttle body had to re-learn as the idle was still high but then went back to normal after a couple miles.

My setup is currently like this, but minus the hose from the intake manifold to the PCV valve on the sealed catch can. Both the intake manifold and the PCV at the catch can is plugged and no hose runs between them. The rest of the diagram is the same though.

Make sure your knock sensor is properly torqued. They will read a bunch of false knock if they come loose.

Welp, F this...

Was putting my .065 oil feed restrictor fitting on today and found out the 90* fitting into my turbo was never tightened down and there is literally no way I can tighten it with the turbo together.

I've had the car back more than two months and I've driven this car maybe two days... arghhhghhhhhhh

Can't have a custom wrench made up?

Wrench isn't the problem. There is no room for the 90* fitting to spin around to tighten it.

Ah, I was assuming it was a swivel fitting. Ooops.
