Take it back to the installer, tell them to fix their mistake, and you want the car back in 2 days.

Well, I have bigger problems... now I know why the car got so knock happy...

On a whim I pulled the plugs tonight:

Looks like some kind of deposit.

Could this have been formulated by all the deposits from the fuel sump/ fuel pump electrolytic episode ? The No. 4 plug looks like it has iron oxide particles. The piston tops are coated too it seems like. Surprised the injectors didn't clog up. First step is to change out the plugs since they are fouled with something. Then just keep running E-85 till it hopefully cleans out. Lot's of freeway trips. You do have a new fuel pump and sump now?

I'm more concerned on why the piston tops look they have been in a car with over 100,000 miles and not one with less than 1,000 miles.

I've had a burning oil issue, which I thought was the turbo, now I'm thinking it's the engine. (IC pipes, intake and compressor wheel are 100% clean no oil in them)

Going to do a leak-down test next.

I was thinking of a possible oil consumption issue too. Didn't realize you were not even at the 1,000 mile mark yet. Yup compression test/ leak down. Seen a couple recent threads with oil consumption issues during break in. Looks like your going to have a laundry list for this shop.

Compression I did about 200 miles ago and it was a solid 165 across.

That said, leak-down would have told more of a story.

The car had become increasingly knock happy in the last 150 miles or so.

It's half way between the ticks and I could have sworn I had filled it to the top tick last oil change, which was about 6 qts or so if I remember correctly.

MAP pan and cooler.

Solid numbers for compression. Beginning to wonder what the valve stem seals are doing. If they are not controlling oil even a leak down test won't show it.

That's barely half a quart. How many miles? Does that include the oil you blew out the dip stick, or was it changed/refilled after that adventure?

haha thanks for reminding me, yes I haven't touched the oil since the geyser incident, so that could account for the dip.

I need to do a leakdown, just don't have the proper compressor for it. I just have a tiny autox style one that basically empties after 30psi of pressure.

I'll probably just put the thing back together and tow it to the shop and have them deal with it while I drink a bunch of cocktails and try to forget about it.

Normal new engine consumption, and blowing some out the dipstick accounts for the oil loss.

I would put new plugs in it, check your fuel filters, and go drive it.

The knock you were getting could have been small misfires from bad plugs.

That's 2 votes for fresh plugs and drive it. I would get the oil line fixed too on the turbo though.
