If it is that hole, you would definitely want a bolt in there because it leads right into the crank case. If you search through the service manual for the timing belt replacement it should be there.

Well holy crap on a biscuit! It's almost good I crashed then because I'd just paid a shop to do 60k service and that's who would have opened that, not me! Wow! Only 2300 miles from service to wreck. Oof, thanks man! I'ma plug that today...crap, wonder if I can raid a bolt that'll fit...seriously, thanks for pointing me in the right direction as I'm not a mechanic, just a kid with some wrenches.
Your welcome, I'm not a mechanic either. I started out as a kid with some wrenches too, who was tired of getting screwed by mechanics.
Based on this pic from the FSM, I'm pretty sure that's what your dealing with. If it was me I would probably just figure out what size it is and head down to the hardware store and try and replace it. If you want to get an exact replacement from mitsubishi you can use https://partsouq.com/ to nail down an exact part number and order it from your dealer.

As fate would have it you pointed me towards that exact pic but I went through Evoscan site! I cannot stress my thanks, spent hours searching/watching vids but my wording kept getting me irrelevant crap.
Soooo, yup that's what that hole was and it's now plugged. Was a 2 steps forward 1 back kinda day again BUT that was okay as now I'm feeling good about everything being snugged or clamped as the case may be. But again, no one cares about blah blah so pics! You can't see it but that plug is replaced and the DP is on...how do you know when those spring bolt deals are tight, burying it seems like not the right thing to do but torque...? Lower IC pipe got mangled as you can see, Injen thing came with roller...no couplers! So I hacked that one in half and made it work. Is it pretty? No. Will it work? Uhm... Does it seem sketchy that this pipe only holds on with friggin hose clamps? Would I ask if it weren't!?! Everything is loose on both sides to be ready for axles and brake+stainless line swap. Also suspension.
You know, some good some bad...some pics. That was my set up to get the engine in, wheeled roller and plopped it down...months ago now! Got axle in, swapped brake line, swapped brake(no longer crappy black over green over original red) and is it a ridiculous idea that if I'm gonna get new pads might as well burn these up to clean rotors? Seriously, I'm a touch of a hammer head... Would have had both sides done but I got a new serpentine belt...and the tensioner broke. Spent a couple hours trying to do whatever to get belt on, gave up and ate KFC. Part on order. Injector clips made from safety pins work like a hot dam!
Well, front end is pretty much back together other that sensor swap and triple check all bolts n stuff. Brake and line swapped, new tensioner on and belt in place, axle in, strut swapped. Almost a car again!!! Oh yeah, that bolt on the strut that holds the line holder thingys busted off...sacre bleu!
Is it all OEM? Uh...you guys seen the exchange rate for CAD these days?
Yes, well done there for sure. Great thread showing your interest, skill & motivation
Thanks man. Evo and me have gone through a hell of an ordeal and it's going to be super sweet when it rolls again. Should be soon too, barring rain this weekend I'll slap in the oil cooler and button up the front, from there it's a cake walk!
Weekend Update! Welp folks, I hadda put 2 wheel speed/ABS sensors and the what I'm now not very into STM oil cooler. Pics were hard to get so lemme spit out a quick story. Those sensors suck eggs, 1 went in all holly jolly without a care so I figured me method of cleaning followed by a smooth insertion would play out twice. It did not. 2nd sensor goes half, then stops. No coming out, no tappity tap tappa to get it in. Click says the little holder plastic garbage thing. **** was a brand new sensor. Lesson learned part on order...again. Enough blah blah the interesting-est pics. So I dunno about you guys but the mount that came with is dodgy, drilled to fit stock spot mostly. I feel apprehensive about the fittings this kit came with and stock lines won't work. Gonna be paranoid AF about this until I get a stock replacement methinks.
This all took an unexpectedly long time. Stupid ABS...how bad is delete for a street car? Also, anyone with the STM oil cooler wanna chime in on how you set it up. Pics would be rad!
It's easy to delete abs, stm used to have a complete kit with the rs master cylinder and oem lines but the oem lines are unavailable. You would have to bend and make your own lines. As for the stm kit so far its going well mine will be done today. They have nice bracket with them and the lines and fittings are nice.
