damn them 'air transmissions are heavy when boxed up. it was manageable by itself, now that its in a big box you just about can't move the m-f by itself.

I found one and fixed it by putting my stock LICP back on. I can't get it to hold more than 2psi going through the motor still... I don't know how all these people claim to be able to do boost leak tests with the UICP connected to the TB. I had to pull it off and shove a PB blaster can in the coupler and clamp it down and found some sheetmetal tool at charlie's house to plug the BOV coupler to test the IC pipes.

Might head to MMP Sunday if I can sneak away and see if I can at least get my 2-3 mph back if not gain some (trapped 109-110 w/ 9 turbo; and 112-113 w/ the 8 turbo).

Is it normal to only be able to run 0-1° of timing at peak torque slowly raising to 7° by 7000 rpm? seems REALLY low from what I see other people run (93 octane).

i do boost leak tests all the time!! you need to leave the UICP connected to the TB to be able to see if you TB or TB seals are leaking, you hook the boost leak test to the turbo and charge the whole system and you will be able to hear all the leaks!!

common places for leaks are, the j pipe, any couplers, BOV, TB seals, or manual boost controller

if the piping is good, put the leak tester directly on the tb and check from there. less volume to fill, might work a little better.

Timing at peak torque.. well.. depends. maybe. but if you've got a leak somewhere, your peak torque/load is going to be a bit off. Does it knock if you add more timing?

I've tried that several times and the air just blows out the exhaust.

Yes, Any more timing and I get knock. I've never removed timing just for fun

then that pry means you have a faulty wastegate!!!

how do you know? if it is blowing out the exhaust that means the wastegate is open? otherwise it would charge the system IE lower IC pipe to IC to UICP to TB... and if the TB doesnt have any leaks it would never even get to the exhaust side!

Just where do you attach your boost leak tester to?

I noticed the seasonal gas has changed to the lower octane winter blend, most if not all local stations now carry this sucky winter blend...I experienced some knock for seemingly the first noticeable time in quite a while.

What Lower Pipe were you running before you went back to OEM LICP ?

If I didn't have the Turbo Manifold off I might go tomorrow to MMP. I'm almost finished with the New EPM Stock Frame Turbo Manifold. Another day or 2 and I'll see what kind of results I can get out of it.

Ahem--what what??

Compressor Inlet

Hrm, I might just try and get some race gas and for sure get an 11.

AMS that is crushed in places from the original owner getting carried away with the T-bolt clamps, which is why it leaked.

The *Ahem* was for I want a good deal on IC piping and a front mount.

I hope to get some bigger injectors and an intercooler and set up an alt map for e85 in the next few months. Maybe an FP red down the line too.

you're killing me smalls. the wastegate vents exhaust that's already in the turbo manifold around the turbine wheel. if the wastegate diaphragm was torn enough to leak a measureable amount of air, he would have more boost than he knew what to do with, and it would not be controllable.

if he's got additional leaks, they're at or after the TB. the IC piping is good, i'd try attaching it directly to the tb and figuring out whats up from there.

Kenny's got it down. The wastegate has absolutely nothing to do with charging the air in the IC piping. The most that would happen is if the wastegate source had enough pressure then it would be drawn open.

and there absolutely will be air that gets past the TB and into the combustion chambers and into the exhaust. No matter what, a TB never fully seals. when we refer to a leaky TB, we're talking about the TB shaft seals.

^ what he said....LoL x 2 on the WG. Might there also be a leaky vacuum line somewhere causing some issues? I had a leak one time caused all sorts of probs, had a very hard time finding it. We tracked it down to a very small slit in one the vacuum lines. Never would have seen it until we took off the lines and started looking at them real close. But with that big a leak you should hear it big time. Hope you get it figured out or if you already do good going.

XSivPSI----We've got a good bit of experience doing the setup you want. Larger Injectors, 2 Maps, and Switch over for both maps. Let me know ...as for the FMIC and piping I can take care of that too. I've got a good Buschur Parts hookup; I can do the IC piping for a custom setup, as well as prob the best pricing on Injectors around.
