They all have names that I get mixed up, Button Willow, Spring Mountain, Thunder Hill...I dont know why, but I do it too, but yeah, it all depends on driving speeds, road conditions, and how often you stop, of course, but I think we left at like 1 and got there at like 6 or 7...maybe later, and then it's between a 30 minute drive to an hour drive furthur to Pahrump, stupid cops...
we went roughly 80 mph out there, with some small bursts of 100, and then going to pahrump, well we were doing about 100 till we got pulled over, or rather ran off the road, by a HP officer who I swear thought we were gonna raid a truck like F&F or something...it was scary
Yep, Spring Mountain is about 45 minutes from Las Vegas. It's a nice drive though ... but no speeding for me next time.
I just finished the online drivers school so the ticket will only show up as a parking ticket on my record. There was a lot of traffic on the freshly paved two lane highway, but most of cars were flying. We were not going that much faster than the flow, but did have some areas where we got up to 100+. The cop claimed he had us at 115+. Jake was behind me ... the cop pulled in front of both of us and blocked ALL traffic for a few minutes ... that was a LONG line of headlights (at least a couple of miles worth) of stopped traffic. Then he pulled over to the side. He went on and on with me about how expensive the ticket was going to be .... ended up being $130, which I thought was not bad considering. Then on top of that, the lady on the phone says ... go take this online course and it will just show up as a parking ticket!
Thunderhill is northern California. Probably about a 9 or 10 hour drive. Reno Fernley is in Fernley Nevada, which is about 30 miles east of Reno (7 hour drive).
Spring Mountain is by far the best for us. It's closer and cheaper than any of the others. Registration is open for the 19-20 Mar open track event. It's a great group of people with a casual, friendly and non-competitive environment. Cost is $300 for two days. Just $50 for the second driver sharing the same car for same run groups. If we get a group together, I'm sure I can get us a 10% discount for 19-20 of Mar. If we sign up for both Mar and Oct, we may be able to get 15% off both events.
Here's the URL for the track:

Jake and I are headed down to Buttonwillow on the 15-16 Jan to run with the same group sponsoring the Spring Mountain events. Let me know if you want me to talk with them about a discount. They already gave us the discount because we paid for all three events up front. Group sponsoring the event is racerfactory.com. Mixed group of VWs, Evos, a few Porsches and Audios ... and of course a few S2000s. There was one Z06 last time and a bunch of Radical SR3 turbos! There were also a fair number of old beater VWs and other older cars. Usually about 20 cars per run group with 3 or 4 run groups, with the groups on track for about 25 minute sessions. No offtrack excursion last time, except for two Radicals that collided. One idiot in an Evo (
) almost hit me because he wasn't paying attention to the car ahead of me that spun out.
I Hope we end up with a good group of Evo and other cars from Utah heading down.

All you need to participate is a car and helmet. Helmet needs to be at least Snell 95 ... so most any motorcycle helmet will do.
Man I wish I had the money, but that is right after the Dynoflash custom tune. I am definately up for maybe a later date . But you never know, I might come down just to see what it is all about.
There's the one in october too, and an idiot in an s2000 almost got me in an accident because he couldnt keep his crappy rwd car in control and spun out, good thing the Evos have good brakes
