Utah Evos
i'm the guy with that black evo VIII. I did make 370whp on 91 pump gas and stock turbo @ 21 lbs. boost. I have 880 injectors and 280 cams and aem ems. the reason that I made all that power is from the tune. joe sim from turbo laboratories down here in orem did a really good job on my car. the power feels smooth and strong.
you guys should see my map. i made a lot of torque. the torque stays flat and didn't drop.
now, I just re-tuned the car for a safe track setup. I made 356whp @ 19 lbs. boost stock turbo.
good luck. let me know if you need help on anything.
Thx, Allen

I was thinking about 264 in/272 ex. A couple ppl recommended that for me
Thanks for all the support from the locals at the event. We had a great time until the actual time attack portion
We got there Friday and practiced on the west course. We changed a bunch of things on the suspension, including the geometry so we were dialing things in. In the process of testing we noticed a small oil leak and found a cracked oil fitting! The stress and vibrations from over a year of racing is taking it's toll on the parts. At thins point we are starting to fatigue the stock parts. Thanks to the MMP staff they found us a TIG welded and Justin had the fitting welded up in no time. Conveniently the starter decided to start failing that afternoon also! We had to order a new starter for next day (sat) delivery and swap it out that Saturday morning. After the excitement we did some quick practice session with a few suspension changes and Paul was really happy with the car, it was perfect.
We never ran the car near it's potential in practice. We were actually running about 21psi at peak torque dropping to 20psi at redline. Paul also was very conservative with the brakes as we're using stock brakes and they went away quickly after a lap or two of heavy braking. For the final run we added about 120whp and Paul was going to give it a run for the two laps. As luck would have it we blew an ECU fuse on the outlap, incredibly disappointing. About 15minutes of hunting it down we found the fuse and it was running again, but we could not run again. I wasn't too happy with the format as we could only run one session with only two hot laps. I hope they change this as it leaves absolutely no room for error. Anyway, Paul ran a best of a low 1:37.x during practice and this was babying the brakes and running the 20psi of boost on unleaded gas. He's confident we would have run a 1:35.x or even a high 1:34.x in the final run.
It was great meeting some of you and sorry for the disappointing results!

I'm stoked...although it is just another Evo with bronze 5zigens...
After waiting for 5zigen to send me some 17x10 FN01RC wheels since January, I finally gave up. Garrett at discount tire in Bountiful is the man though and got me hooked up with 18"x9.5" FN01RCs for a VERY nice price.
Now Nitto is out of stock on the 275/35/18 NT01s though. Hurry up and wait is the name of this game for me. Discount Tire in Bountiful has a set of 275/40/17 NT01s that they ordered for the 17s though. I would bet they would let them go for a great price right now just to get them out of there. If anybody is interested, talk to Garrett there.
Anybody have any other suggestions for tires? They will see limited street use, but will be Auto-X'd and possibly a day or two out at MMP. Along with some drag racing.
275/35/18 or 285/30/18 in size and need to have some form of real thread. Not that painted on stuff like the Hoosiers and Kumhos.

I got caught in a snow storm once when I had the old Azenis Sports on my GTI. I had to park my car and have someone come pick me up. There was no way I was getting anywhere with those things.

I know, that was a jk as well...lol.
Those are old, can you still get them? The new version is the R6. I have run a few sets, did you have a question about them?
Has anyone run these tires?

Really
I would still rather have a cheap car then a kart. Karts require something to transport them and they cannot be used for anything else. I know a car will require more maintence but it gives you more functionality. Different things work best for different people, I myself bought a Nissan Sentra SE-R that I will be in around $5000 toal and have a decent autox/track car. It is not Evo fast, but it it is paid for and the parts are much cheaper and the car is easier to work on. IMO

Yeah, there's just something about tracking a real car (I would imagine, since I haven't tracked a car yet) compared to a go kart. Plus, for those who can only afford one car a kart is not an option.
About the Porsche 914 swap stuff, I personally don't know of any shops. I guess search the info super highway.

Karts require less to store them at Miller than a car though... And I'd much rather a dedicated kart/car then have to worry about getting to and from the track in the same car I drove on the track, hence all this talk in the first place. Plus.. You could tow a kart with another car instead of some massive truck/trailer set-up.
Why is a kart not an option to those who can only afford one car?
