Sucks to see those option packages. I just want the Recaros and HID and don't care for the sound system. Looks like I'll be going with the base version with no options.

Just picked up April's SCC magazine. They claim 260HP at the crank, can any one confirm this?

Did they do their own dyno and extrapolate or are they quoting Mitsu? I think initially one report said 260 and then at Detroit/Vienna and in all the spec sheets and quotes since it's been 237 hp and 253 torque.

You really can't knock Mitsubishi for giving you about twenty possible Lancers off the assembly line (even more, if you include things like colour, interior, and transmission as choices).

Are there custom receivers/kits that will fit well in a 2009 Lancer? I know it was an incredible pain to customize the receiver in my Mazda Protege ES, at least so that it still looked good. I don't want the dash looking like it's held together with duct tape, but I also think the Nav-receiver looks pretty crappy. On the plus side, the Lancer speakers seem good (was also a pain refitting the Protege with good speakers).
Yah I get that much... still sucks though. Basically won't even use the sound or nav system. I absolutely HATE rockford fosgate stuff not to mention the low end rockford fosgate stuff .

Yah there isn't any issues putting decks in the 2008 lancers. There shouldn't be an issue in the 2009 RA. The current 06 and older lancers were a piece of cake to put receivers in. Speakers aren't really that hard either. Only thing that sucks is trying to find 6 3/4 speakers instead of 6 1/2 that are any good. I purchased Polk momo's for mine... they came with adapters and work pretty damn well. I'm not looking to pound my head into the wall with bass... but I would like a better receiver at the VERY least. Plus iPod control is huge with me. I wouldn't trade my Alpine receiver for any other.

It's just a quick blurb, most likely a misprint. But either way this will be a killer ride and really eat at wrx sales.

you think the delay with gettin the TC-SST Evo MR is going to effect the launch of the 09 Ralliart this summer?

Well, since there's nothing much going on that's new, here's yet another Photoshop, this time in Mirage blue (to match the photos you posted) -- enjoy.

It would only affect the launch date if it's a manufacturing problem with the TC-SST -- if it's just software or something non-TC-SST-related, then there shouldn't be any delay. If it's some larger quality control issue with the TC-SST, then it would probably affect production, which would definitely affect the number of RA's available, and would cause delays if they decided to do all the MR production up-front and leave the RA 'til last.

In other words, hard to tell, but probably not a good omen.

dont want to start a discussion here, but what you wrote in the first part of the post is simply not true, japanese invented just in time manufacturing and were the first ones to expand customization as we know it today. Only for us Americans things always get dumbed down and we get the "packages" i dont know for rest of the world but in europe a typical model will five be offered with b/w 3 to 7 or more engine options alone, mostly diplacement but also turbo and diesel combinations (oh poop, i forgot, we dont like diesels in the us, why would we want to get 40 or 50 mpg, it would take the oil companies too long to make the money so lets make gas guzzlers and keep diesels out, and just incase, make diesel fuel most expensive, eventhough it takes alot less effort to make than gas, sorry just venting ) then exterior, interior colors, what kind of stereo do you need, sun-roof, this that and the other things, all can be ordered separately and not as the "dumb packages" Its really sad that we are treated that way, now that is the truth/

rock on

Huh? -- I meant that if Mitsubishi has issues manufacturing the TC-SST component (or getting their supplier to), then there would be delays. Just-in-time isn't magic, you still need a reliable supply of parts.

Even if the TC-SST is available in limitless supply (it won't be), Mitsubishi will probably receive many more orders than they can immediately fill, for both the Evo MR and the Lancer RA -- doesn't matter that they're manufacturing every car to custom specs, they still have to decide which orders to fill first. My guess is that they'll choose to fill MR orders (and other Evo and Lancer orders) and delay the launch of the RA to mask that choice -- anything else would be bad PR, as otherwise orders would be delayed too long for all of their models.

By the way, I live in Canada, and we do have plenty of just-in-time manufacturing here, often in cooperation with the US, which is why border traffic is such a big issue (mostly the fact that the US wants armed guards to search every shipment of widgets and car parts for terrorists, both entering and leaving the US, or something ridiculous like that).

well, i think that now i should be saying, HUH????

look at the quote of yours i responded to, nowhere in there does it even mention TC-SST. you must be confusing me with someone else's response or you think i am a clairvoyant and can read peoples minds.

Please re-read what i wrote, but in short, i responded to your post about assy. lines and customizing cars so i belive what i wrote is appropriate

if you want to speak about TC-SST, its already out in Japan so obviously there is no issue with the tranny itself, someone in the know, posted that they were just tweaking software, again probably dumbing it down for us americans
