I think I'm in love. The choice between evo and an RA is going to be so difficult.

If you have the cash and the aspiration, it's still Evo X by a long shot. Yaw control is gonna make all the difference. Otherwise it's understeer city no matter how you slice it. You might be able to increase power on the RA if the SST ECU is not an insurmountable obstacle, but you'll never approach the handling of the Evo.

Personally, it's very hard to for me to justify spending that much on any car and I'll probably end up going for the RA, but I'd definitely take the Evo if it was a matter of choice. I think Mitsu is doing a good job spacing these models out into different niches.

A few more pointless Photoshops to pass the time until Mitsubishi releases more details (heck, I'd settle for just knowing the wheel offset or brake specs beyond the size) -- new and improved iridescent orange-red and cyan-blue:

Hopefully the tranny can handle the HP, because it`s going to be very easy to bolt on the vast array of parts that the EVO modders will be putting out there.

Also, anyone heard confirmation of whether it will have the throttle-kill traction- control. (sorry can`t remember the abbrv.) Or a manual tranny...

It's likely the Ralliart will handle like an Evo 8/9 that has ACD that is 200 pounds heavier. The Ralliart and the USDM ACD equipped Evos have identical AWD systems. The 8 and 9 did not understeer that bad in stock form. It was just a matter of adding a stiffer sway bar in the rear for a more neutral feel or more oversteer.

Manufacturers always dial in a little understeer for safety.

3462 is a lot of weight to sling around on the RA, and it seems yaw control serves to compensate for extra weight on X. But I guess the IX was up over 3300 so maybe the RA will be able to come fairly close to its handling. Still, I think that for people who might want to track their car (presumably those with aspirations to an Evo X) the RA will never come close to allowing them drive it as fast they could drive the X. Read the review in the Evo section going up against the STi.

This is a big question about the SST. Not even so much how much power, but the SST's ECU will allow any power mods. The Mitsu reps told the guys reviewing the Evo that the MR could go into limp mode with just an intake mod. They are saying that if you want to mod an Evo, you have to go with the GSR. Hopefully as the MRs come out over the next few months we'll find out that this isn't true.

That's referring to the Concept RA not the Ralliart.

There is definately a turbodiesel MIVEC on the way. Not for you guys but for us europeans. 200hp turbodiesel does not sound so bad.

2009 Ralliart Torque numbers?

I noticed there aren't any official posted numbers on the expected torque output for the 2009 Ralliart. What I did notice was at the Chicago Auto Show and the New York one recently,

Just wondering.

Yeah, a few people on this forum have caught that as well.. and it's believed to be a typo (or a missed update from the Evo X spec sheet). It's been announced in several places that the estimated torque is around 253 ft. lbs.
