I drove an 09 WRX hatch today. I was fairly impressed. Smooth. Quiet, even with the SPT exhaust. Touchy brakes but I was coming from my truck and on the Honda you have to really push. Smooth power delivery that comes on really strong at the top. Good pull from the start also. Did not get to corner too much. With the SPT exhaust the sticker was $27,800. So no big price break over RA. I need to wait to drive the RA now.

Quiet even with the SPT exhaust, how did it sound? Thats' not too bad of a price either I guess. If I were to get a wrx, I would want the sedan with the exhaust. btw, sedans are $500 less and I've been hearing people are getting their wrx at around 300-400 over invoice, which would put it around 25,600. Of course I want the premium with the exhaust, so that would run about 27,700 if you can find one of these dealers (not sure about my area). Although I still have'nt totally ruled the RA out, it isn't looking good. Sure it does look a little better and I like the seats and gauge cluster better, I don't like the lack of manual and power differential compared to the rex. Not to mention its just over 29k with the recaros and needs a drop and some engine tuning from the get-go...now if they just knock a couple grand off of it or sell them just over invoice...

The exhaust is mean with a nice low rumble. Not intrusive. Not ricer. It was almost a $900 option though. Car was black and looked very good in the front. I too like the sedan. They will be getting some in later this week. The seats were very comfortable, but no Recaro's. Lateral support was not there but for a driver less hassle getting in and out. I have read that the shifter was notchy but I thought it was good. Never guessed about which gear I was grabbing. It really was very smooth. It would need to have winter tires though. There was some slight vibration on the highway. Maybe just from sitting. That was my only concern. It was fun and about all you need for a great street car. Again, power was very strong. Pulled hard throughout. Pulled real hard above 5k RPM. Did not get to really stay in it too much. Ran through 3 gears pretty hard on an on ramp and was at 75 or so.
Also, I have seen pics that make them look like they are sitting high but in person there was no big wheel gap or anything.
It was nice. Muddied the waters.
