Yeah for me too. But a great car nonetheless.

Remember, how the hell are u gonna compare a mitsu or a subaru against a ferrari, etc? Who does that anyway.... point is u compare a wrx against their competitors, and one of them is the ralliart, and well, seems that the major consense (even among magazine reviews) is that the ralliart wins hands down that department (looks).
I wont say anything regardless your taste about driving ugly cars albeit faster cause all of that is your personal taste.
Something to keep in mind is we're on a Mitsubishi forum, people will naturally provide links to sites that like the Ralliart or evo. I would rather spend the money on a fast car and then upgrade the looks than spend money on a good looking car and then try to upgrade the engine.

The power of the press is a powerful motivator...

And as far as sales go, it's not a question of who has the better car in their lineup but rather, as you pointed out yourself, more a question of brand recognition. Subaru is an established brand and outsells Mitsubishi by a large margin. And that is why Mitsubishi always MUST have a better overall car to sell... just to hope to sell some of them, as people would tend to simply overlook them. This might not be such an important factor in the US... but where I'm from, people don't tend to have a look at Mitsubishi's products until I actually remind them of the existence of the brand. Sad but true...

Anyway, let's see what the future holds for the 2nd gen. RA... I just hope it sells well enough that Mitsubishi is tempted to continue improving it. After all, it's quite a good base upon which to build.
If u check out nasioc, they think is because of them (member forums).

So u definitely care about interior design and hard plastics, etc?

Sure is, dealerships here even require a 5000$ deposit just to test drive the car.
As for the comment about hard plastics, it's not like the interior of the Lancer is miles ahead of the Impreza, in fact most reviewers rank the Impreza ahead of the Lancer in that respect.

One thing that may hurt the rex is sticking with the 5-speed and still limited to only 130 mph? Must be a speed limiter. My lowly spec-v with roughly 185hp can hit the high 130's and has a 6-speed. I know top speed isn't used very often (I think I only tried it once or twice), but would like to know its there.
So how much top speed will make u happy??

Yeah I know amby, this is a mitsu forum I´ve check out the reviews of my own , I mean, doing research by myself, so I´m not biased (at least not that much haha) cause I like to know and read plenty of reviews.
Anyway, since u probably hang around subaru forums, could u post links that dislike the ralliart and likes most the impreza wrx.....?? In general or maybe specific when it comes to looks...

Oh no amby, dont go there, cause I wasnt talking about it.
My point was.... if he says he doesnt care that much about the exterior of the car cause most of the time he is inside the car, then he probably has to care a lot more about the interior design , materials...etc.

By the way, thats insane, charge money first and then so much money to just TEST DRIVE a car?
If they are doing this, hopefully just a few dealers are doing it..... mean, dont think thats a corporate policy right?!

I don't really care how it looks in the inside also. As long as everything is not falling off and rattling I'm fine. I'm mainly paying attention to the road in front of me anyway. I will be content with an interior akin to the Lotus Elise's interior. I don't care for any extraneous luxury features other than a comfortable seat that keeps me in place, air conditioning and heater, a radio with speakers better than my Civic that I'm currently driving, and cruise control.

From what I can tell, both the local dealerships are doing it.

The main one I can remember off the top of my head is the EVO magazine review. I would find it for you (and may tomorrow) but I'm about to go to bed.

For those of you who don't care how it looks inside or outside, why would you even buy a new car then. Get an old SUPRA or something and just drive it as is. Looks outdated, interior outdated, but at least it is fast with tons of performance. Another option is to go way back in time and get a Buick GN. Simple mods and into the 11's easy. May not corner as well, but with the new air bag systems on the corners, I would think you could even get that a lot better.

Did anyone see the WRX S info? Again, if performance is all you are concerned about, the SUBARU will be the way to go over the RA unless price factors back in.
