Ralliart vs the world
Kind of a silly/ridiculously obvious statement that could be said about any "slow" car when being compared to a faster one.
vette will kill ra
as well as my slow evo

ignorance is bliss to some.
Let's move on...
A lightly modded RA will be a good race and if not beat a stock vette,. done. and since 80% (reasonable number) of people are not "pro" drivers there's a good chance an RA would win.
Granted since the RA has a fool proof tranny, making it easier to drive.
anyways....
this is a useless writing. There are many evos that spank vettes and I'm sure there will be ralliarts that spank vettes in some time. no one is debating on whether a vette can beat an RA.
People are making assumsions that an RA will not beat a vette well that may be true right now but in a year that will change as more aftermarket support will come for the 2009 RAs.
Easy there. I'm saying that it doesn't really mean anything to say that X (slower car) could be comparable to Y (faster car) if only X were modified. Doesn't matter if you're saying it about a Ralliart/Corvette or a Geo/Enzo. ANY car can be made fast with enough cash, so it's pointless to make a comparison of a modified car vs. a stock one.
obviously a vette will beat an RA stock for stock both cars are made with different goals.
one is definitely more performance oriented then the other but vette = 80Kish running 12ish stock
RA + mods = 29Kish running 12ish = I would be running a 29k car that is as fast if not faster then the 80kish corvette.

No, first off, Corvettes start under $50k, and I'm sure in these times, you can walk away with a new one for much less than that. Secondly, there's a huge difference between a car that runs 12.2-12.3 stock and 13.9-14.1 stock. Even a mildly modified Ralliart is barely touching 12.9, and that overheats the transmission.Anyways, you're still completely missing the point of what I'm saying.

Anyway. This kitchen is real hot, I'm gonna go sit in the living room.
+1, I'm with Otter.
With that kind of thinking, if you spent an additional 2k dollars to mod the RA - shouldn't you allow the Corvette 2k dollars in mods too? Comparing a modded car vs stock is pointless...

People in this section need to relax a bit. I'm noticing that, in numerous threads, that some are getting really really defensive, and it's starting to get in the way of reasonable discussions, to the point where I'm going to have to spend some more time in here.

I don't think the type of gains an RA gets with 2000 is the same as a vette.
maybe if you put 5k or so to get a 2 second gain then thats fair to say but a 12 second car at 29K is awsome and you said they START at 50K so I not quite that far.
I understand what your saying otter, but what we said is lightly modded RA could run with a corvette in a straight line. Yes we know that any car modded can run with any car, thank-you for that information we're well aware. We're also well aware that a Corvette is just an overall better vehicle. It started off as just a comment, "well if you modded the RA it could be close" to which Amby went off on his tangent taking it a step further. Conversation would have been fine otherwise. For the most part we all know our role, RA's are "quick" cars, not fast.
