JDM Evo IX MAP sensor group buy
Did anyone try connecting their JDM MAP sensor to an electric gauge?
I am on the list for a JDM MAP sensor and would like to know if I can tap into the harness and get a wire to my XD-16/LMA-3 so I can dispaly the JDM boost on the gauge. I know that there are three wires in the MAP harness. A gray harness for 5volt power, a black wire which could be ground, and a yellow wire. Is the yellow wire the signal that goes to the ECU?
Also does anyone have the voltage to boost specs for the JDM MAP sensor?

The voltage vs pressure correlations are in the plot.

mrfred,
I noticed what is going on. Whenever the ECU is checking for emission's it flags the SES light. It logs 2 x P1400 codes. The code says something about EGR emmission control. It only happens every now and then. Sometimes you can drive for a while and other times it happens right away.

Yeah, that's the code that is supposed to indicate that the EGR system is not working. The job of the MAP sensor on USDM cars is to detect a change in manifold vacuum when the EGR valve opens. The JDM sensor has a lower sensitivity to changes in pressure, so using it with the USDM MAP translation tables causes the ECU to think that the pressure change is too small. Once the table locations are found, this can be fixed.
Would this be easier, rather than find the tables and still run EGR emissions?

It may take a while to find the tables, but for the end user, modifying the tables would be much easier than physically eliminating the EGR system. Now that I think about it, there is a way within the ECU to shut off the EGR system. This would mess up emissions testing though, and I don't know how the car would run the the EGR disabled. The exhaust gas is meant to help control EGTs when running very lean at cruise.

Installed my JDM sensor today and the car would not stay started. It would start but immediatly stall. Put the old sensor in and all was good. ANy thoughts? Car is an EVO 8 with 96940011 Rom.
