A question or two for MrFred..

I have a 96530706 ROM on my Evo 8 and I also have a Defi MAP sensor wired into the ECU through the JDM Map sensor pin. In other words, my ECU now see's/reads boost.

My question is... actually I have two.

Does the above statement still hold, whereby it is near impossible to do ECU Direct Boost Control on non USDM cars?
Even if the ECU on the non USDM cars like mine can now see boost through the Defi boost sensor?

Assuming it can be done on my EDM ECU, will ECU Direct Boost Control work with the per gear boosting as found in Tephra's latest V7t6 mods?

Thx

I can answer these.

No that statement isn't true anymore. I'm currently running this version of boost control with the edm rom. If your sensor is wired to the same pin as the map sensor then it will work just the same.

You don't need gear based boost control with this setup (which is why I use it) since it's adjusting the pressure directly off the map sensor instead of load. In other words It'll automatically adjust for each gear and altitude. You basically just set it and forget it.

Thx, exactly what I needed to hear

One more question..
I searched this thread but didn't find any information.... where do I find the instructions/patches to get ECU direct boost control for a 96530006 ROM.

u still need gear based boost control to set the initial base wgdc...

1st, 3rd and 5th all require VERY different WGDC curves to obtain the same boost level and TBEC doesn't react quick enough particularily in 1st and 2nd...

Search this thread for 96530006 to find it. I believe Tephra posted the information you need but it is not near the first page.

Thx found it , must have had a typo the first time round when I searched.

But it looks like I will be staying with the Load/per gear boosting for now using the V7t6 Tephra mods on my 96530706 ROM.

Biggest problem I can see is that the Direct Boost control is all setup for PSI, and where I am, we make use of the metric system and measure boost in BAR. I didn't come across any posts where the definitions were changed to work in BAR.

I'm sure you can just change the scaling in the definition.

Check the links to speed density patches thread for scaling in kpa then simply change the scaling definitions in MRfred's patch and the unit settings for the boost desired engine load table.

mrfred has a separate thread on the GM 3 bar. Search.

The challenge you'll have using the Defi sensor is that no one has worked out the correct ECUFlash direct boost control scaling values for that sensor. And without those scalings, direct boost control is impossible.
