As for clutch's ive been working with Carbonetics with there single carbon blade system, as of now it's been by far the best clutch ive used for an Evo, in my opinion there is no perfect clutch available for the EVO, there is the stock clutch which drives perfect and then theres a Tilton carbon which shifts and launch's perfect but only last a 100 passes and sounds like crap under decel. All the clutch's inbetween make the car sound like a pile of crap or do not shift or hold the power(also pop the queer clip).

Then there is the Carbonetics Blade, at $1299 you get a complete system and it's push style and sprung. Holds over 30 psi on the BB Black, drives like stock(no noise), shifts better than a twin and won't leave you stranded with a popped clip. it did twelve aggressive autocross launch's no problem, it did however slip on a 6200rpm 15 psi launch on my car running the black at 28 psi, I will be working with them to solve this so people finally after 11 years of Evo's being around have a AFFORDABLE real clutch to buy.
Clutch system sounds unreal! Does this entire system include a flywheel as well?

i found my pass on youtube on a random video. this was the first pass i did. it chugged 1st cause i left clutch up to early and i have a good suspension setup so it gripped hard. i didnt leave the line with much boost either that time since i barely sat on 2 step. then when i got into 3rd it felt funny so i delayed to give the car gas because i didnt think it was in gear, then i also shifted to 5th when i could of probably road out 4th.. o well.

for being the first pass ive ever had in my life down the strip im happy. the car has lots more in it and i cant wait to go back to a local track after i fix the clutch and do some testing.

oh not to mention i had (4) 6 gallon jugs of e85 in my trunk.. why? because im dumb i guess.. i didnt even use a quarter tank.. why i thought i needed 24 gallons for a drag strip is beyond me.

either way i enjoyed watching my work go down the track.. i had a handful of 10 second cars there running good and also some stock block ones also.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqj7w...tailpage#t=60s (fast forward to 1minute im the silver evo / then evodans test pass is right after mine)

the 2nd run i have logged here it built 30psi off the 2 step and stayed 30psi.. before i put the car on the trailer it was running 38-40psi here in PA so how it lost 8-10psi from PA to OH is beyond me.

i had a great time tho and thats all that matters.. if people on here want to hate because i didnt do good for the first time i ever ran down a 1/4 then that's fine.. whatever makes you feel special. personally im proud of making my car look slow because low 11's is still quick for someone that never been down a track before and at that i did it infront of 1000+ people!!!!

Plenty of setups hit different boost levels at the track then they do on the street.

Welcome to drag racing.

Nice to have a clutch that is quiet isn't it, nothing worse than driving a car down the road sounding like to skeletons doing the wild thing on a tin roof. My clutch is still fine just toasted a it on the hard drag launch. At this point being that I'm not drag racing this car any more this clutch will be my choice for a long time.

About the OS Giken I have now heard from two different sources, one said it slips the other had high RPM lockout.

Lol about the skeleton analogy. I haven't had any first hand experience with multi disc setups but this clutch has been flawless for my DD for some time now. No complaints at all. I can even feel comfortable with less experience drivers (girlfriend) driving it and never worry. Can't wait to hear about how they might improve upon it. Anyways, sorry Tom for the off topic BS.

Oh and it does include the flywheel at that price point. I forget the weight but it's ridiculously light.

Tom, you did very good at the track seeing as it was your first time ever on a drag strip. 11.3 is awesome! Most people start drag racing with a slow car they build up and get a feel for everything. Can't wait to see what it does once you make that car your *****

this is why closed loop boost control is the win. MBC's don't think.

how does it handle high rpm WOT shifting? lock out? This is one thing that pisses me off about the evo. My built sti could make passes all day with no lock out on a 400 dollar act street disc..

carbonetics and OS have been the two best clutches we have ever installed in evos'

we have a QM here that destroyed the trans shaft- in about 10,000 miles with about 4 launches-

Like budda!!! Grabs firm and no lockout and my rev limit is set to just under 8k. I must say I couldn't be happier. After all the problems I've heard others have with almost every clutch on the market for the Evo or the many that have some sort of drawback to hold high power I just haven't had any of that. Granted I don't have some crazy high power numbers but I've beat on it pretty hard and it still feels like new other than the engagement got a bit smoother a week or two after installing it. The only thing if it's even a "thang" is minor clutch chatter if you slip it too much at a low rpm. I don't want to clog up Tom's thread anymore so if somebody would like more of my opinion please feel free to pm me or you could ask here:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ni-review.html

Also not that I've put this clutch through every possible test but when I spoke with Kiyo at Carbonetics in socal back in february he said mine would have been the first Pro Blade clutch kit sold in the US for the Evo. I could possibly have the most miles on this thing here so I speak from having plenty of time using it.
