Rear Diff Options - Power Oversteer Found Here
the STU rebuild makes a noticable difference, assuming similar setup (toe, camber, sway bars, springs, shocks, etc) it will allow a bit of oversteer on power, or at least neutralize the piggish understeer feeling coming out of turns on throttle. non-ACD evo 8 here.
FYI, sent my diff out to jon@tre around the 11th for the HD side cover.. was informed that he would need to make a reverse engineered version b/c my cusco wasn't the same as the cusco he designed his side cover for - however he assured me that he could still get it turned around in a week
now obv april 5th, i've called, pm'd, emailed, but he still hasn't responded.. any suggestions?

Also tell him that if he does not have the new custom side cover CNC programmed, machined, fitted and tested yet and is 100% sure it is going to be awesome that you just want it rebuilt and back to you ASAP (assuming that's what you want).
Knowing Jon - if he is making a custom one-off part he is going to make about 5 versions of it before he is satisfied that it is perfect. If time is more important than perfection then be sure to tell him that. I've been in that same situation before with various shops/vendors where you both have different ideas of what is most important at that point in time. . .
IF your side cover was damagaed and the bearing was spinning on it - your only 3 options are:
- throw a new bearing on the damaged diff and hope it doesn't break or wear much more
- buy a new Cusco or OEM diff and have it installed
- wait for a new custom made cover for your Cusco

Very interesting trend thanks op, iam adding this mod to my wish list, btw when I shift agressively
(not often considering my mileage) I hear a loud thud in the rear, could this be what you guys are
talkin about or is that mostly because of worn bushings?? Thanks in advanced.

i mean of coruse i want it done right and 100% perfect, i've just been waiting literally like a month now so just wanting my car back.
also i dont really get a lot of chances to go up to the shop my car's at so i was hoping it would be done by this weekend.
I understand wanting your car back on the road. What I don't understand is why you post here like it's Jon's fault. Here's the way I see it. You bought the Cusco diff. You broke it. You could have your car on the road tomorrow, if you want to spend the money to replace the whole thing. It's just a matter of how much you want to spend. Jon offered to MAKE you a custom part. I can't imagine that there's much of a market for it, so he's essentially making it just for you. Custom parts take time. No other transmission shop would even offer to make you one. That's the kind of service you can only get from TRE. I'd consider myself fortunate that Jon offered an alternative to just having to replace an expensive Cusco rear diff. Be happy

Just want to clarify this: I trust Jon@Tre with absolutely all my drivetrain parts

PM'd for clarification, don't want to get into it here. Reason I posted about timing and status of my diff in the thread is because I'm the OP and I've been posting periodically throughout the thread news and updates about my diff etc. All news goes into the thread - noise, mpg, performance, modifications to diff, and cost and time it takes to get such things done.

I just wish there were 10 of him lol

I got two more track events coming up, may 28th and June 6th at thunderhill. Before one of those I'm gonna see if I have time to install a tanabe front swaybar to add along with my current setup. I'm also actually going to be using a better set of track pads this time, so I can take the braking a little deeper and see if I can test the acd settings a little better.
