Well that actually really bad. I don't think it will make that bad even they even ran dino oil for 10k (i'm assume).

My guess is previous owner never change oil. Well hope that covered under warranty lol.

we had a toyota 4runner come into our shop with 32 clicks on it that was worse than that.it was given to a kid as a 16th bday gift and his parents had it towed in just before he was 18.he never changed the oil once.it was easily twice as bad as that benz, but toyotas tend to sludge anyway by nature.

we took it apart and tried to clean and rebuild it,but eventually we ended up buying a used motor for it.we couldn't get all the oil passages clean enough to stand behind it.

It could have never had the oil changed and then the vehicle might have been used on very short trips where the oil was never regularly brought up to temps, idk.

Tommi please note that this is pure charasteristics of a petrolium based oil whether it is a blend or an 100% petroilum based oil it doesnt matter.
I personally have not seen any Ester synthetics do this to an engine.

Oil's that contain any amount of hydrocarbons will do this when not changed for longer than they are designed for, because of the impurities thay carry such as waxes, gases carbon deposits many of these have no benefit to lubrications they are simply there because the type of oil was not refinned propperlly.

Many other factors could be how hard the car is driven, what type of temps will the car see ect, some studies are even showing the new ethanol/gas blends doing this, wondering how much worst will it get when they start adding 15% ethanol to pumpgas... these are some of the reasons why many people dont like to deal with it and just change their oil prematurelly.
very good reason to get a group 4 oil pure synthetic

We had another ML350, similar year as this on our lot. Sales guys kept complaining it had a slow crank when they try to start it. The battery and charging system was looked at and all was fine. It had been sitting on the lot for weeks, getting driven on test drives frequently until on one test drive it supposedly died on them and would barely crank over. When we brought it in apparantly it had 0 oil pressure the whole time and had been driving that whole time with a failed oil pump until the crank seized and thats what caused the slow crank.
Those motors dont have an oil level or pressure sensor warning, so no light ever came on. The starter had also worked so hard it got fried and stunk really bad. But point is that suv racked up quite a few test drive miles with 0 oil pressure and lasted as long as it did,. The whole time the sales guys were complaining about slow crank it was the crank slowly seizing up, not the battery.
