Some current oil analysis info, ongoing testing.
Had an oil analysis done on some Z-Rod 10-30 oil I ran in my engine and when the people over at Blackstone said my great wear was probably not from the oil, I wanted to test it and throw in some OTC Catrol Edge 10-30 (top 5-30 is my typo). These are the results: Z-Rod 10-30 on Right column and Castrol 10-30 on Left column. Middle is Averages for all reports given to Blackstone. Both were done after 5,000 miles with Z-Rod probably 2500 miles E85 and 2500 miles 91. Castrol was 4,000 on E85 and final 1,000 on 91. Daily driven, no tracking.

Not sure what to make of the report. The content appears similar for both oils for most elements. Some sizable differences in B, Ca, and Mg. Are those found in journal bearing materials?
Why do you feel it needs to be changed more often? I have had analysis done on E85 oil after 2,500 miles and then 4,000 miles on it and nothing is different.
Here is my oil report. Car has bolt on's and a tune around 330-340 all wheel hp 93 octane and 93k miles. Ran 10W-30 Signature series for a good 40k miles and recently now using z-rod 10W-30.

if your oil shows no issues then it's all good. which oil are you on?
re the rest of the thread:
i still find no info to deter me from using Rotella T6, though i'm back on a JB turbo, so may look for something with even more zinc.
Here's my oil analysis with Amsoil Z-Rod 10W-30. Oil had a little over 3k miles on it and it looks like I can definitely go further on it which is good news. This oil had no track time on it. Half of the mileage on this oil was due to a road trip and the other half was from a mix of highway and stop and go driving. The first 400 miles was with E-85 and the rest was on pump gas.
Interestingly enough, I drove through some dusty highway stretches on the road trip with a K&N cone filter and apparently it did a good job of keeping the dust out. I was always under the impression cone type filters never do a good job filtering out dust.

300v is one of the best oils you can use. Its more difficult to find and more pricey as compared to something you can go down the street and pick up from a shelf, so thats the downside.
All things considered, imho, with a stock to mildly modded evo (gas or E85 tuned), mobil 0w40 is hard to beat considering all factors; price, performance, and local availability. I am currently EVO-less, I sold my evo, but from information I gathered on here and my own testing, my next EVO is going to see mobil 0w40 exlcusively. ymmv.
Sorry for late response, I dont get on here much anymore.
Yes, Mobil 0w40 quieted down my lifter tick the best. Rotella did an ok job, much better than Zrod I was using though.
With the T6, the ticking never completely went away, so I must say that Mobil did better in that aspect.
