thats a lot more sexy. id be a happy man with that power curve.

dont care about your lower peak power, whats good now is that its making more power - earlier and longer; a 10ish horsepower increase from 4000rpm, and then a solid 470hp from 5000rpm all the way to the redline.

on the track, at the drag strip even - your flatter 470hp powercurve would put mr peaky 510hp to shame.

(or not)

The car does feel better,i recently found one of the reasons my turbo was lagging a bit more than it should, the stiffer wg springs should be in by next week.

Your turbo will spool 400-700 rpm quicker if you get rid of that external wastegate and go back to internal wastegate - assuming that the external wastegate doesn't close both scrolls (looking from the pics it doesn't)

The twin scroll effect is untouched, external wg is in the same place the internal wg would have been, therefore not affecting spool.

original flapper keeps the division all the way to valve. you have lost that with that external gate setup. no wonder your turbo spools so slow. you dont have twin scroll effect anymore.

This thread is very interesting to me. The issue im having is where is anyone finding the 25g with the wastegate built on? I see tons of 25 arashi /kinugawa turbos but all have external wastegates.

Also its bolted up to a evo 5 so does that mean it should be a direct bolt on for a 4 threw 9?

I see what u mean, don't think it's that big of a deal though, with no form of boost control, weak springs in the wg and a nasty leak right at the wg i was seeing 20 psi by 4100 rpms full boost by 4300,i wouldn't consider that so slow besides the external wg is only an inch away from the outlet, pressurized in it's own circuit until it opens at which point gasses mix just like they would anyway.

trust me, i've tested it on my car.

if you ran an internal wastegate to seperate the "Scrolls" from each other until it reaches your desired boost level, it would spool MUCH faster. And it feels better off boost too.

In my evo 4 - wastegate removed.

Anyways... Agree with rsmike. That wastegate setup after the turbo made me laugh to be honest. explains why that gasket popped.

While i wait for the coffee to warm up ill repeat what mikes going on about with a couple more words chucked in for added lolz.

To have an external gate on a twinscroll, both scrolls must close and vent. Both scrolls must also be seperated all the way to the gate. you can either...

Run a custom twin scroll manifold. One that has extra pipes to bridge the manifold runners 1/4 and 2/3, to merge into 1 for the gate. Keep the merge divided all the way to the gate too. even if the distance from the merge to the gate is only 3cm.

My Sinco Customs™ Manifold is like that setup^

Or, you can be ultra baller with your custom manifold, and have a single pipe off each runners 1/4 and 2/3 and run 2 wastegates...

You'd get all the *****es.

FYI if you take a good look at the first pic you'll see why that gasket popped,no other reason, hopefully you'll be smart enough to realize it for yourself without any help besides the fact that even with the before mentioned issues the turbo still spools pretty good so i don't mind giving up a few hundred rpms in order to have better boost control with an external wg.

I got a evo9 bearing housing and a 25g compressor wheel and cover already fitted, now if i buy a 11.5cm evo9 exhaust housing instead of using the standard 10.5cm housing will i get huge lag? what is the benefit to use a 11.5cm housing?? thanks in advance guys~!!~

I honestly don't know how much laggier it would be exactly since i haven't done it myself yet but i can asume it won't be too bad (not huge) since you still have the factory TD05 turbine wheel, the whole purpose of the bigger housing is to reduce back pressure and tempereature therefore creating more top end power than a smaller housing.Usually a bigger housing will allow you to run more timing up top also which again helps you make more power on the top end.
